Option to Automatically Scroll Down to the Bottom of a chat.

Hello, I believe their should be an option to automatically scroll to the bottom of a text channel when you first select it. Right now, if there are more than a few messages in the text channel, discord will not scroll down to the most recent ones and instead opts for a button that marks all the messages as read. An option to scroll all the way down would be beneficial because it would save me having to scroll down 50 messages when I first connect to a text channel.

    Someone needs to come up with a discussion board that does what the users need it to do, such as this.  Absolutely ridiculous that this hasn't been resolved - 3 years on now.

    It's ironic to me that all the same reasons why people abandoned Skype, and ICQ, and AIM.... are going to be the same reasons why people abandon Discord. What was once the disruptive chat service that changed everything is now just a big tool to mine data and funnel metrics to advertisers, as well as spamming even paying customers.

    While it's not the option we want, hitting ESC/ESCAPE will drop you down to the bottom of a channel.

    I'm determined to think that Discord doesn't care at this point. I don't know why this is. Happy to be wrong, too.

    This also bothers me a lot. By doing some tests, I found that the shortcut below works:

    Shift + PageDown

    I tested it on 3 or 4 channels to make sure it seems to work. I'm using Ubuntu 20.04.3 and Discord Stable 108924 (eb8c571).

    Thiago Braga Someon else mentioned that just hitting ESC works which is easier than SHIFT + PAGEDOWN

    Yes, ESC works in most browsers, however, it remains difficult enough in the mobile app (iOS at least) where you have to either see if the encircled arrow shows up (or not) or scroll manually all the way down.  

    It's a bit disconcerting that basics such as this are not corrected early on.

    BreakOfDawn Oh... sorry. I haven't read all the posts in the thread. Indeed, ESC works perfectly, at least on the desktop. Thanks :)
