Add an option to mark spoilers in addition to NSFW
I had a discussion in a server today about whether we should mark our spoiler chat as NSFW to prevent people from accidentally clicking on it. However the counter is that some people may think NSFW was allowed in there. So I propose we add a way to tag a channel for spoilers that essentially does the same thing, except instead of asking for 18+ it says 'are you sure you want to be spoiled' and has a different mark on the side.

Rather than having a special spoiler-state for a whole channel (an alternative for which is to add "spoilers" to the channel name), I think we could use spoiler mark-up for chat text, similar to how underscores are used to underline something. Have another symbol pair that means "spoilers" and hides the text (until a user does something purposefully to reveal it, like clicking on it). That, or maybe we can have some way of marking an entire post as spoilers... but that big of a change seems unnecessary and less flexible than a text mark-up solution.
Just my $0.02. :-)

I would like to see it on a message by message basis as well as a channel basis 1 -
I think having an entire channel markable for spoilers is a good idea! If everything in the channel is potentially a spoiler, using markup isn't a great solution.

I would think that this is easily done by adding "SPOILERS" to the channel title, though. People can opt in or not for such a channel, but it doesn't require any additional programmatic hoops on Discord's part.

By that logic - you could do the same with NSFW, sometimes people click it accidentally... or may not see the full title of the channel on some clients and think it's a different channel they're okay with spoilers in. really not sure why you're so opposed to the idea tbh.

This is already a thing, kind of at least. Just make a spoiler role and block the channel behind the role.

Do you mean a channel that automatically makes all messages in that channel spoilers, or? 1 -
The same layout as NSFW but something like "Holdup, this channel is marked as spoiler. Because there are some spoilers in it, opening at own risk". Could be awesome to have, for like channels abouts movies and series 1 -
I very much like this idea, I think maybe a sub-section to the toggle of NSFW make a option giving us a custom "please read before entering" notice

what's wrong with just asking the channel nsfw -1 -
Totally! In all of my servers we just make an opt-in/ opt-out role to get access to a spoilers channel but having it built into Discord would be super helpful!

I don't understand why we would need this, if the text/image is marked as a spoiler, why would we need a spoiler channel? Anyway, maybe discord would understand it. 0 -
There are servers I'm in that have spoiler channels for discussing that type of stuff. I have that for my own servers too. ||Even with this, someone can accidentally click on it, which is why spoiler channels exist.|| To freely discuss other points of a movie or game that anyone might not be in yet. Unfortunately, some poor souls accidentally click on these channels and end up seeing things they wanted to wait for, and then spoil themselves of that part.
I know we have roles for spoilers, but some new server owners might not know how to get reaction roles for those kinds of channels. At the same time, it is not an NSFW channel, so they don't mark it as NSFW.
