there should be an alternative way to verify for those who do not have a cell phone.

Just got an email from Discord. Thank you so very much for making my already stressful day much more stressful. I enjoy hearing that its not a fixable problem. I've had my account for THREE years, with no issue. This needs to be fixed. I'm a server owner, admin, and mod, and I have several servers I'm in for school and work. I cannot make a new account and I DO NOT HAVE A PHONE NUMBER I CAN USE. This is a very good way to LOSE users, not gain them. Fix this problem, Discord.

Certainly you hear that some users above 13 doesn't have a phone number. There's way to turn thing around than just using phone number to verify. Aren't there way other than phone like for example using email address to verify is a better way? We just get LOCKED out or unable to chat in certain server. But all you guys did was ignore it!! I agree with these people that we demand a better way than just using a phone number to verify. I hope you understand what I'm saying. Thanks :)

Okay you Discord f*ckers. I’ve been using this service for a long time and this has happened twice now. Once on an old account two years ago, and now. And both times it was because I got a new phone and new phone number and it wouldn’t receive messages for some reason. Called my phone company, zero problems on there end. This is ridiculous, and after I read the previous comments I’m starting to realize that this has been a problem since the beginning. Just fix it. I realize that some people don’t have phones or phone numbers and you can’t do anything about it, but this is happening even to users who HAVE PHONE NUMBERS TO VERIFY.
So please, my dear discord staff, pull your finger out of your ass and fix the problems on your platform after this Carson Conundrum is over or your entire company is as much of a clown as my profile picture.

I hate discord I made like 5 different accounts, and they needed phone verification, but I don't have a phone it does this to me to every account I make a day after I need to phone verification in the other accounts HELP DISCORD PUT EMAIL OR SOMETHING ELSE not only phone number not all of us have phones like you rich people

I am someone who does not use a cell phone. Its a waste of money for cheap spenders like me who can just use VOIP for the same purposes other than verifying.
My bank lets me use an Encrypted Email (such a Protonmail) to verify instead of a phone. I would happily change my email to my proton account if this was implemented for discord. As of now, I mostly just cant talk in protected servers, but it would be devastating to get locked out of my account for the same reason.
If bank cybersecurity is fine with encrypted emails, why isn't discord? Cell Phones are not the future. Voip platforms are, you guys should know this the best.7 -
A server I have entered requires phone verification. I do not own a phone or a landline, so I am unable to verify. 2 factor verification does not even work without a phone!

Discord, just because you make $120 million dollars in annual revenue doesn't mean we all do and can afford cell phone numbers. It's ridiculous, I can't even do a single thing to regain access to my account. It's been an ongoing issue for over 2 years and you don't give a sh**? Does anybody from Discord even read feedback in the first place?

I do not have a phone this is stupid. It told me that I need a phone number to verify my account. Why can I not verify my account through email. Discord FIX THIS I can not use my account because of this.

Just dropping in to say Discord's verification system sucks and their customer support might be the only thing about them that sucks more. I have a cell phone, but because it's the *wrong* kind of cellphone, they won't send it a verification code. And they also *will* remove the verification requirement if you get the right customer service rep, but if you don't, you're screwed.

I couldn't agree more. I'm seriously doubting if the people behind Customer Support even have a High School Diploma or simply, if they are just bots. Recently, I had another problem and this time, it was Email Verification (Yes, another verification system error, how great) where I need to verify my email or else I can't text again even though my email is already verified. So I asked Discord Support how to resolve this issue along with why they insist on having a phone number linked on your account at all times (If I try to unlink my phone number, it sends me back to the Phone Verification page). They simply responded telling me that I need to verify my phone and they can't remove it (at this point, I've seen so many of these messages it feels like copy and paste with a little reworing) and simply ignoring my questions.

I just had this happen to me because I tried to join a discord server that requires phone verification. No warning or anything, I just instantly got my account locked until I use a phone. Unfortunately I do not have a phone to use and now I lost access to dozens of servers and all of my friends because of it. I do not understand this requirement at all and it seems to only exist to discourage people from using this platform and seek out alternatives that aren't as harsh.

I found what's the problem, Discord is RACIST. They are asking a phone number since I accepted a friend request from an Arab.

Anyway, using a VPN is totally legit. Discord is just a bunch of ret@rds. Especially because support do nothing to solve the issue.

why cant u verify by email, its much easier especially for people who dont have phones. there are plenty of complains about this situation i still havent heard anything since. DISCORD DO SMTH!
