Clearing Direct Message Option

I would like to have a option to completely clear direct messages with someone, so that you start from a clean slate so to speak, even if it is only cleared on your side

    This is a very important and missing feature.

    Some people are sending so much crap, it must be possible to delete this chat history.

    I don't like to receive hundreds of animated gifs. I can't block my son from reaching me, but I don't want to always have to see this amount of crap messages !!!

    This just proves discord is harvesting our information for their personal use. They claim they can store billions of messages openly. I have messages from years ago that id rather not have. Discord should be sued, plain and simple. Point me to your complaints. Youve had 2 years to hide behind your hole.

    I saw someone by the name of Eichi Nemoto comment "This just proves discord is harvesting our information for their personal use" and if this is true, they definitely should be sued, pretty sure it's illegal to "harvest" personal messages if you're not part of the government (such as policemen). If this is true, I hope they are sued to bankruptcy.

    I totally agree with you. They could replicate WhatsApp's behavior, because you can delete messages from the sender and receiver, only for you or for both sides. I find inconvenient having messages from more than 2 years ago stored in a web server, so for me this is a feature that must be implemented.

    I would like the option to set a length for each DM thread whereby data is retained. This would be shared among all users in the DM thread. For example, it could be set to keep a 1 day, 7 day, 30 day, 90 day, 1 year, or permanent history. Messages after the set length would be purged.

    If a member of a DM thread opts to change the retention period after the thread is created, it would need approval from the other members.

    Two years and it's still not added?

    I use Discord also for logging purposes, so clearing a channel would be very useful.

    Its disheartening to see that even 2 years later, with so many people asking for this feature, that it has gone on ignored.

    The men and women using Discord (myself included) have spoken up many times about how these private conversations can have personal information- and/or have received unsolicited messages from strangers that cannot be deleted!

    That alone should be a reason enough to apply this type of feature!

    To be fair, Microsoft Teams is also missing this feature: so maybe the problem is that Discord wants to be more like Teams?

    Хотелось бы иметь возможность выделять сообщения для удаления сразу нескольких. Очень сложно удалять сообщения по одному. Я говорю про сообщения в текстовых каналах.

    Yeah, add this please. It's like AAAAALLLLLLLL the communication apps / softwares have this feature but, not discord. This is annoying !

    This feature would be great. But, it is in conflict with Discord's profit model of collecting personal information to sell to governments. You didn't think it was just Facebook doing that, did you?

    10 января 2021. Данную функцию так и не видно. А ведь удалить все сообщения или выделить несколько для удаления группой в личной переписке очень полезная нужная возможность.

    Yes normally chat programs that let you delete messages, let you delete them also all at once, like Telegram.
