Honestly just the ability to disable gif autoplay when not on wifi would be great. Apollo for ios does this really well as gifs are the biggest data hogger

The great thing about Discord voice chat is that it still works well with 64kb/s connection speed which is amazing! But using chats is really difficult at that speed because it has to load profile pictures and rich media content all the time. So please give us the option to disable automatic download of media content and profile pictures.

After the update of Discord with the stickers and banner profile, it became something that limited data plan can't afford to use app. It eats instantly 2mb data on opening, even tried on a fresh new account with no server and no much friends (4-10). I am suspecting of the official stickers that it's there, maybe loading on the background. This really needs a fix. Before the update it was all fine with the features given "User Settings > Text and Images.

We use discord in our non govermental organisation. When we use public transport, there are many issue with the android application : send message fail, when network come back message are lost, message disappeared before display again, no system to send automatically message when the network come back.

If you go to User Settings > Text and Images
There’s plenty of options to limit what you need!

I'm not sure if it's a good idea to bump suggestion posts from months ago, but I agree with this 1000%.

As a student on a limited data budget (where the amount of money I have saved up on the phone is less than $3), this would be a very great idea. Even with disabling photo previews and auto-play of GIFs, the app still eats up a lot of data from loading the avatars, server icons, and other image files.

If this idea is implemented, it would make a ton of other people's lives and my life a million times better. In other words, commenting for awareness.

This would be a good feature on any client, not just a phone. Think tethering or 3G/4G enabled laptops, etc.

Basically, from what I have seen, discord downloads all new messages even from servers you don't want to see. So that's why I think it uses so much data. :D
