Should have been done years ago, but still being ignored, for some reason.

This is happening to me with the Synergy mouse and keyboard tool.  No matter how many times I delete it from the games list, Discord goes back in and re-adds it.  Synergy is on 24/7 to integrate my devices and thus Discord shows it as my status message 24/7 - a highly annoying feature that has me disabling the game-status entirely.

Alright Discord, over 2 years of people asking about this and many more agreeing. It's time.

I'm sure it takes a little bit of rewriting to toggle separate games, but you can do it if you kept the code clean.

+1 this and put in a feature request ticket. I also wanted some audio features so I threw it all in a ticket and referenced this URL.

    1. I launch an app I don't want it to display, and it adds it automatically.
    2. I close the app and delete it from the list.
    3. I open the app, and Discord adds it again, I can't mark it to be ignored or do a blocklist/allowlist.
    4. I give up and keep the app open, and then eventually I play a real, even certified game that I hope my friends will notice and join.
    5. I can't delete the app while it's open and running and remains the active choice. It says I'm still just doing the app.
    6. I close the app, hoping my friends will eventually be available and see/join me playing the game.
    7. Discord still shows me using the app, when it's closed, because I had two things open and it doesn't switch over to the new thing. So they still never see me doing what I'm actually doing or what I want them to see.

I have wanted a way for it to block specific applications/tools/idle games for years and I am so tired of this being a permanent issue for me.

I've been "playing" Synergy since February/Mars now. Please allow me to exclude games/tools already.

This thread has 96 comments and has been active for two years. How come no one from Discord has even responded?

Yes please, I would like to be able to hide specific games that I am embarrassed to be playing.

I don't know if it will help, but since we have no other real way to get attention or a comment, I've DMed the @Discord twitter account with a link to this thread to try to get someone to at least see and comment on it.  I encourage anyone else who wants this feature to do the same.  Not to harass the employees, but maybe we can just get some light on this situation and maybe a comment from Discord staff?

    I think this is a must-have feature.

As many have said, there are 3 reasons why we need this:

    1) To hide a game or app we don't want to be shown.

    2) So that apps that are identified by Discord and always open don't show as being "played" 24/7.

    3) So that I can hide an app/game I usually have in the background so it doesn't hide other game I might be playing.

I'm amazed how this is not considered important by Discord.

How is this still not implemented? It's incredibly annoying and I've turned off game activity completely because of it.

What the actual hell is wrong with Discord? I didn't think this would've been wanted for TWO WHOLE YEARS without being implemented.

The realization that this has been ignored by Discord for so long is mind-blowing. This should be such a basic functionality option? Why such a delay in implementing this...

Agreed.  It's endlessly frustrating and asinine that I can remove Synergy manually and have it frustratingly and immediately auto-added back by the Discord app.

There is no reason this shouldn't be implemented as a feature.  This is preventing the "currently playing" feature from being useful.

I really think instead of just endlessly posting and complaining in this thread, we need to do what we can to get someone to actually see our request. DM the Discord twitter, fill out a request form on their contact page. They're never going to see this thread unless we reach out and make ourselves heard.

Is this not their request page? I think I have mentioned this in a tweet to discord but I just made another.

Also this would be useful when playing VR games. Right now SteamVR shows up as the game I'm playing, but some apps that use SteamVR (as in the actual games I'm playing) don't show up. So people will know I'm in VR but not what I'm doing.

Says I've been playing Pincremental for 18 hours.  Sure it's running on my desktop at home, but I'm at work.  Kinda the entire point of an idle/incremental game... to leave it running and not play it.

I leave it running when I'm playing Avengers or THPS... and I WANT people to know I'm playing those.  This really shouldn't be a big deal to add a blacklist or something.

I also think about games I've played in the past while connected to Discord and it's embarrassing.  It should ask each time we play a game it hasn't seen before.  It shouldn't just broadcast whatever by default.  Huge privacy issue.

@Magnaheim There is a way to hide BlueStacks from Discord. I just found this out today, cause I was also having the same issue. Under BlueStack's Preferences, there is a check box that says, "Allow BlueStacks to connect with Discord" and if you uncheck it Discord will stop saying your playing BlueStacks when you're not. See image link for reference: https://imgur.com/a/Lg8YdKH

Yeah not to beat a dead horse but I have Bluestacks running in the background whenever my PC is turned on as its the only way I can control my smart light switch from my PC, and I find it very annoying that everyone on discord sees me as "playing" bluestacks when literally all i use it as is a basic lightswitch
