Allow 0 minute setting for "Push Notification AFK timeout"
I get that many users find it annoying to receive push notifications on both their desktop and their mobile device, but I don't. I want to *always* receive push notifications on my mobile device, even if I'm actively using a desktop when I receive them. Having the *option* to stop them is great, but if you're going to have a drop-down with several different options to choose from, why not give the option to remove the delay altogether?

@cyber is so correct. This is definitely an issue, all chat programs from telegram, signal, google hangouts, and even facebook messenger DO THIS
The fact Discord has not done it, is a fault of Arrogance. If somehow my comment goes against TOS or is too offensive, maybe the team, the devs, and all involved need to take a step back and realize their ego is in the way. I actually don't use Discord as a main means of communication anymore. Maybe a few messages a month (below 20 unless someone does message me)
Implement it Discord, and please stop being a putt putts about it. It's like not having a blinker on a damn car, just doesn't make sense.1 -
The funniest thing about all this, is I get better notifications from this forum than the app itself.

Everyone reading this, sorry for the third bump but I think it's important, get your buddies, get em in here, voice that concern, time to blow this feed up!

The AFK timeout doesn't exist on most platforms. Making it impossible to turn off in the first place was nearly inexcusably user-hostile. As far as I can tell, Discord has failed to respond to years of complaints in any way, but I guess none of this is surprising from a company that disabled light mode in its product as a joke.

This is the single issue preventing me from migrating multiple friend groups from other platforms to Discord for our main text chat service. Unreliable push notifications is a hard blocker.

I run a client called Shift to use multiple Discord accounts on one PC, for server moderation purposes and bot testing. I also use this client to run all 5 of my different email accounts, and multiple instance of Microsoft Teams, so I rely on it heavily. Recently they added a feature that allows for every account / application in the client to stay continuously rendered which has been really nice, but I think it's tricking Discord into thinking I'm always active. Therefore I receive 0 notifications on mobile, which really sucks and is almost platform breaking. That being said, it's always been an annoying "feature" regardless of this.
This seems like such an easy add, I wonder how it's possible that it's not implemented yet. I saw some people saying it's because notifications are annoying, that's fine... just leave the default at 10 minutes like you always have and allow those who want to set it to 0.2 -
Please add this.

Thanks @xavier I used your tool and found out my generic PS3 controller was causing my issue with not going idle. Problem fixed. While I would like discord to always send a message, 1 minute works for me.
-2 -
WHY ARE YOU PREVENTING MOBILE NOTIFICATIONS!!!! DISCORD....guys...guys.......guys....c'mon
1 -
I would definitely kill for this feature; I was away from my desktop for a few mins and missed out on a notification for a GPU restock, and was too late.

You guys must have setup issues. Mobile notifications work just fine. I get them all day long. I just had to set my idle time to 1 minute on my pc and disconnect a ps3 gamepad that kept sending a keep alive signal.
-6 -
What do you think happens during that 1 minute? 1 minute is still too long.

While I'm at work I'll go downstairs to fill my water bottle and I'll miss messages before I make it back up to my desk.
But what's even more annoying is when something is keeping the application active and it just doesn't work, a very simple solution would be to add the option to disable the feature altogether. Sure, you could attribute this to "setup issues" but what difference does it make?
This would be so easy to implement and it won't hurt people who don't want it.4 -
Truth is, and pardon my french, but discord doesn't give a shit about it's community and will continue on it's Narc ways. I literally stopped paying for nitro when I realized how cold-hearted and woke of a joke they are. They can't take a second to provide assistance on a feature literally every f'n other chat program provides. Telegram is a better alternative, and always will be. (hate to say it, but over a year on this and they can't get their shit together)
When approaching them, they link you to this, and so they've seen it, they are just too screwy to give a damn.-2 -
Not to mention that it's just... broken on some systems. Yes, there are setup issues - any Wayland-based Linux system is always 100% seen as active. The only fix is uninstalling Discord Desktop and just using the webapp, which is what I do right now. You yourself mentioned you have to disconnect your gamepad! That is unacceptable.
This is a basic feature, and we should not have to resort to obscure workarounds or altering what's plugged into the computer in order to get mobile notifications.5 -
Kobaltic You’re saying that every time I want to leave my computer I should first sit and watch it for a minute without accidentally bumping the mouse or keyboard. I can’t always do this and, even when I can, I shouldn’t have to. How Discord does it is transactionally unsafe. It forces you to install the desktop application to do some things and uninstall or constantly exit the desktop application to avoid missing notifications.
I’m used to things like Facebook Messenger which send notifications everywhere immediately (only maybe suppressing them when actually interacting directly with the app or website for about a second, like by constantly moving my mouse over the window) and just has good notification retraction support and does not even have the option to wait a minute before sending mobile notifications.

Adding another comment because this is nonsense that it doesn't exist.

Replying to MasterChipmonk because I agree and that the company clearly is a puts about it.

Discord must be one of those big-business companies (à la Adobe, Microsoft, Google/Android, etc.) that “welcomes” user feedback but never actually implements anything useful to those users voicing their opinions/needs… SMH.

Like…
Years?
‥Seriously?2 -
Bump -- this is a real sore spot on what is otherwise a great UX with discord

Let's provide a NON-AFK use case of this, maybe they'll care. As it stands, if you're playing a game full screen with someone *and voice chatting with them* it is impossible to see Discord and also not really possible to close it. This is a perfect use case for the ability to disable notification timeout, since it's a reason why you'd want mobile notifications WHILE YOU'RE AT YOUR COMPUTER.

Just wanted to chime in that that I too have been waiting for this to get changed. Amazing to see it's been asked for for this long and hasn't been addressed in the slightest.
