New messages indicator doesn't always disappear after reading

This started happening lately, I believe it worked properly a few updates back. The problem is that "new messages" line and the new messages channel indicator don't always go away after switching to the channel, viewing everything new, and switching away from it. I think it mostly happens if new messages fit on one screen and you don't have to scroll to view them all. The behaviour is inconsistent - sometimes the indicator goes away as you expect it to, sometimes it doesn't until you do different motions like scrolling, clicking on the blurple "N new messages" bar on top (if there's any), or I don't know what.
