Disable server unread count badge
Please just allow me to disable the unread count badge per server. Due to an oversight, role notifications still produce badge count and this is super annoying on giant servers. Badge count are meaningless if you can't control them. All I want is the ability to turn off badge counts per server so I can leave them on for the one server I care to keep up with where I actually do want a badge count.
Add it to the right-click menu. Or make "server mute" apply to badge counts which is what the user expects anyway. This should be a 5 minute fix, honestly.

everyone, submit tickets to discord for this. i submitted one and they said they MIGHT fix it if enough people complain. also, upvote every thread that pertains to this.

this is so annoying and time consuming, needs to be fixed imo.
Everyone, please upvote the original post. :)1 -
100% support this. It is ridiculous that "mute" doesn't stop you getting spammed with red counter updates.

it bothers me to the point i want to delete some servers just to make the count smaller :/

Please fix this, it is ridiculous. Muted server, no notification chosen (should I really say that twice?) and still getting the DARN counter

absolutely insane that it's taking this long. i encourage all of you to open up a ticket in addition to upvoting and commenting on all of these threads. when i opened a ticket all they told me was to upvote these threads. it's insane.

I don't understand why they won't fix this. They did a lot of updates to app and the logo and even made a story about all the logo updates. I don't care about your logo. Just add this feature or just bundle it in with the mute function. I'm tired of thinking I got a message to find out it's from a muted channel. If they don't change this we should find a new chat system to use. They will only respond when people stop using their app.

How has this not even been considered yet. This is such a basic and reasonable request. Having 2,417 show up as the discord badge means absolutely nothing to me. Meaning I am much less likely to actually use the platform, because I’m always assuming I don’t actually have new messages. This should’ve been done a long time ago.

I JUST GOT A RED MENTION BUBBLE FROM SOMEONE ON A SPECIFIC SERVER THAT I SPECIFICALLY DISABLED EVERY FING NOTIFICATION
COME ON MAN WHAT IS THIS MY MENTAL HEALTH IS DEGRADING HERE WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

Yes please.

Please let me turn off badges when muted!

Please fix this already.

Fix this please.... "MUTE" should be mute............... 😢

IMO it’s more marketing refusing to fix this as a means to keep folks reading through server channels longer, increasing likelihood of users purchasing Nitro. Only reasonable explanation.

I found this thread while having this same issue. What I noticed is that in my servers that I muted I was, like all of you, still seeing an unread message count. If you go into the server mute settings you will find an option to "Suppress @everyone and @here" as well as "Suppress All Role @mentions". I toggled both of those to the "ON" position (green checkmark) and have since not received any unread messages from those servers.
If you look @ the setting for the Mute it says "Muting a server prevents unread indicators.... unless you are mentioned". Since "you" are part of "@everyone" if that is used, I think it bypasses the mute.
Anyways, try that. Worked for me. Hopefully, it works for you. Cheerz.

GorillaK we ask it for each of the channels not for the whole server.

November 2021 and still going strong.
Hopefully one day this will get fixed.

Fix this issue ASAP so it won't cause users any more discomfort.

@Support.discord How come you did not answer here yet?
Does it really require a full rebuild of the software to fix this bug?
You can tell whatever you want but this is a bug, read again the definition of "mute".1 -
@Support.discord why is this still sitting here, unanswered for all this time? are you really not trying to add something so simple?

Two years later, still not solved. Discord might as well just join the ranks of fb, twitter, reddit, and the rest of the useless tech companies lol. 2022 and still not listening to consumers

I knew a dev on the Discord team who explained that discord will basically never fix this. The upper management wants to leave the notifications on so that people are clicking on servers more often to generate traffic. This essentially allows them to lie about their usage stats. The more server clicks that they are getting, the more they can say their product is being used when compared to their competitors. This is good when talking with investors. Of course they would never openly admit this to the public, so not only will they never fix it but they will never tell you why. Only a few people on the inside know how it really works. Even though it would take them five minutes to fix they never will because they want those high click numbers for monetary reasons. Welcome to corporate America.
So, it’s not the devs fault. It’s the upper management and CEOs. The devs aren’t even allowed to respond to people about it in here. That’s why they never post anything. It’s not their fault, they’re simply being told not to by their bosses. So don’t blame them.
Prove me wrong, Discord…

Every time I have to waste time clicking through these notifications I think "I hate Discord".
