Official support for audio interfacing software/hardware
I received a message from Discord's support team stating that they do not officially support audio interfacing software/hardware. However, this is something we desperately need.
This would bring the core functionality of Discord, the VOIP, up to a whole other level.
It would fix a lot of compatibility issues people are having with their USB audio interfaces, and with virtual audio cables.
It would allow users to input and output sound to whatever devices they want, and even to multiple devices if needed.
Depending on how it is implemented, then for certain users it may even allow them to no longer depend on virtual audio cables for routing.

Discord is one of the very few applications that doesn't support audio interfacing. I think that really shows how dated their current functionality is.

my focusrite 2i2 2nd gen also has insane issues.
i think it used to work sometimes (except when playing nfs heat), but now when i run the local test, every second word i say gets dampened as if the echo cancellation feature has gone wild. (even when speakers are muted)
i also tried nvidia broadcast as mic but it didn't change anything

To further extend this suggestion, we should be able to chose the quality and sample rate in addition to the input and output devices.
I've been having problems with sample rate fighting between applications, and it always happens when Discord is running, never when Discord is terminated. I lose audio at the start of games, during games, while playing music, etc. The sample rate goes haywire in a flury of rolling sample rate changes, causing my interface to start clicking as it tries to keep up with the rate changes. During these changes, there is no audio.
To resolve, I usually close Discord, and run a batch file which restarts Windows audio subsystem. It's not uncommon to have to do this 5 or more times a day.
My Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 behaves fine all other times. When not using Discord, my system can stay online without problems for a month (usually only rebooting for Windows updates), and has been a most excellent audio interface, so good, clean-sounding, that I can't find any reason to upgrade it.1 -
I continue to be disappointed in Discord. It's the only application I use that manages to have issues with audio interfaces, and it ruins it for all my other applications that know how to behave.
So, how much do I have to pay to actually get professional audio interface support into Discord?0
