Do others have also issues where Discord lags really bad to the point where I have delays up to multiple seconds when clicking something? This makes Discord rather unusable. I also used some custom CSS (plz no ban discord thx) which is now completely f'ed up. Oh and yeah. I agree. The new icons are... meh. Kinda blurry and too large.

I agree. It's not as awful to me as some here are saying, but it feels a little off.

    I totally agree.

The reason I purged skype and curse from my computer was the cartoony bullshit and lack of functionality those talk programs provided.

I only swapped to discord because all my friends did.

What was wrong with the old UI? It was basic, got the job done, and looked regular. Why did we need this new high contrast cartoony bullshit in its place?

I am contemplating going back to Teamspeak because at least Teamspeak is basic, looks normal, and doesn't make stupid and pointless UI updates for nothing more than the sake of change.

I could care less about the ui icons, but the bold and yellow-y gray mish-mash blur that is channels and categories legitimately hurts to look at, and smaller server icons makes it difficult to read the icon's text.

Yes please discord, this new UI looks terrible. Plus, it lags for me [I don't have a potato or a super computer] when I switch servers with the new ugly graphics. Please get rid of this, or allow us to use the old version

Personally, I find the new UI to be mostly great.   However, this font is killing my eyes... You added the option to change the font size but I'd really like an option to change the font itself.

    Old Discord UI option please.

This new layout is just so awful, I'm considering deleting discord just because of that. Please revert the change, it really hurts. Or at least add an option in appearance tab. Please.

what happened to the "X friends online" thing near the top of the screen anyways

(but i rather just have more theme options than different icons)

I'm in complete agreement here, I *hate* this new version. The hashtags for different rooms did NOT need to be bigger, that is not the information that needs emphasising! And just ugh! Everything feels busier and harder to filter based off importance, it's not good, and I have a lot of friends who hate it for similar reasons too.

This is absolutely needed. The current redesign has a large gap between the message box and the bottom margin, which creates quite the eyesore, the rounded designs blur everything together rather than creating a clear course of navigation through the UI, and not to mention that the pounds (#) and speakers before channel names are gigantic now.

I personally think Discord should revert to the old design entirely, but support for choosing "Classic" or "Modern/Round/Whatever" Discord or something would be ideal.

I haven't had the new UI for even five minutes and I think it's horrible. I used discord dark theme because it was unobtrusive and didn't cause me eyestrain. With the new UI everything feels not only far too bright for my liking, but it's also bold. I'm not going to continue to use your platform if my eyes hurt just from looking at it for a few minutes. Either give us an option to revert to the old UI or do away with the new one altogether.

Yes I completely agree with this suggestion! This update ui looks dreadful! The omission of the "friends online" counter by the server list really bothers me as well...

I absolutely hate the new design, and its problems are even worse on the light theme
The new channel list looks massive and somehow blurry
The new icons are way too dark and heavy, they were perfectly fine as grey outlines
The new pushpin is crushed and tilted, so it has a weird shape and isn't aligned with the rest of the icons
The new help button has no reason to be a circle with an interrogation mark in it, a simple interrogation mark made more sense
And the new @... Just doesn't look like an @, it's way too round
I didn't like the redesign from last year or 2017 with the new fonts and some icons, but this one is far worse, please let us choose what to use...

I personally really dislike rounded corners, I don't get the reasoning. I was glad to see my CSS relatively ok after the update, but found I can't do anything to make the server icons square again. In the case of the scrollbar where I couldn't do a thing to modify it, I just changed overflow-y to none. But I can't delete server icons, y'know? Why does a stack of images even have to be rounded when the space they are in is still square!? It just cuts out image space! I feel sharp corners are a lot more "Modern" looking, they're a lot more efficient in real life and in GUIs, and they generally look nicer. I think it's a trend that's gonna pass just like shading/shine on buttons, but goshdangit I'm not up to wait that long!

It's been a week and nothing has been done about this.

This new UI Discord has forced down our throats is a complete abomination and an insult to all Discord users. I swear websites changing their UI without any user input is one of my biggest pet-peeves and should be abolished.

I for one would love the option to change back. The reason why It should be an option is bc I know some people do like the new look however for me personally and for some of my friends it hurts or bothers our eyes. So an option to change back would be much appreciated so we can use discord without getting headaches.

Honestly an update is a problem if it causes anyone health issues and should be seriously taken into consideration and addressed.

Let's not forget how the square ping was really an iconic part of Discord, and now that it's changed, it's taken away some that iconic look, and also made a lot of ping memes outdated so suddenly.

Also those large pound signs are awful.  They feel clunky to me.

the obsession with rounded edges and thick borders is a tiresome trend

They still aren't answering us, one of my posts on the overlay feedback has actually been deleted.

They're trying to silence us, they're trying to sweep negative feedback under the rug.

We have to do something about this, we have to stand up for ourselves.

We have to get this old UI back, we can't be silenced for something we believe in.

    Who's with me?

Oh man, reading the comments about changing UI without permission brings me back to the "good old days" when I used facebook and would rage every time they changed the UI (to be uglier than ever) every few months or something.

When this dropped, I immediately had so much to say about how hideously round everything was. And why just WHY. do DMs need to have the white new messages circle appear on the side like servers?? If the icon is already there, OBVIOUSLY THERE'S UNREAD MESSAGES. I DONT NEED IT TO BE SO REDUNDANT. AND NOW INDIVIDUAL USERS DON'T LOOK ANY DIFFERENT FROM SERVERS. WHO THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA

And now for some reason, the red notification tag completely stopped appearing in the top left for mobile app on my samsung galaxy note 5. What gives?! It's actually still working on my motorola but now I end up not noticing anyone messaged me for a while since I have to click in deliberately.

Everything is hideous, and I am NOT looking forwards to when the icons on mobile are also changed to match the ugly new desktop ones.

    Agreed 100%.

If you don't change back the old UI, we just might boycott this service.

    YOU HEAR THAT, DISCORD DEVELOPERS?

So we talk about real problems we have with the new UI, and they make the mobile UI worse? What the hell??

I can get behind the symbols for used for offline/do not disturb/idle/online (as it's probably intended for colorblind people, and isn't very distracting), but the dark block behind gifs and links is hard to read on, and makes the gifs smaller!

So I just opened my mobile discord app and saw that new symbols got added ontop of the online status circles. Stuff like a circle in offline/invisible, a crescent moon for idle, ...a bar for do not disturb. Oh and online is exactly the same. These honestly tell me no new information and even confuse me a bit. The old system was absolutely fine, especially since like EVERY messaging platform uses it (if they even have an indicator lul)

So one of my friends said it's probably for color blind people, and I HOPE discord devs were smart enough to have intended that, instead of it being a nice guess on my friend's part, but I would still... still really appreciate if it were an optional mode

How unsurprising is it that the community is expressing concern for a change that was made and the discord staff is ignoring it completely?

I'd like this, because instead of seeing "9k+" pings on a DM, or server in the new UI, In the old UI it would actually equal a number (1004200) instead of an estimation. Plus, the new UI seems a little bit too cartoonish. The old one makes me feel nostalgic.

What a pity, this thread has been around for a month now and no official comments have been made weather or not they'll put in this feature.

    Ashamed of you, Discord.

Please bring back the old design, or at least make it possible to opt out of the new design in settings
