[SUGGESTION] "quiet" message
More often than not you chat with friends in other time zones which equals to them sleeping while you're awake at times, and vice versa.
It would be good to have a mode when activated will send messages like normal but will suppress notification of the other end. And with notification I mean the receiver won't be noted right away about me had sent a message to them and needs to check for them self if I've sent something to them. They can obviously set their status to "Do Not Disturb", but I doubt you do it every time you go to bed with your PC on.
This is leaning to more DM and not for servers.

Definitely a good idea. or even just to send a message that doesn't trigger a desktop ping for someone in-game

Definitely, I’ve wanted a “quiet message” in discord for a while, especially because I often use mobile. I rarely know if they’re asleep on the other end, and I often just edit my most recent message in place of this. It would be nice to have this as a complete feature
