Bring Unread badge display in line with Notification settings
I am in numerous servers in Discord; some I just follow casually, others I want to know every single message for (these are usually small groups of friends).
Now for notifications, great, you got this covered: just set notifications to either be totally off (if you really don't care, same as mute), be only on mentions (for those servers you only casually follow, but still wanna know if someone is talking to you), or for all messages (for those extra important servers).
The problem? I don't use notifications on Desktop, because they're annoying. Instead, I rely on the little unread icon badge, which is incredibly useful... except it doesn't have the above settings for it.
So if I have it ON, then ALL servers I'm in will turn the badge on; if I have it OFF, then I miss it when my friends write to the servers I really care about.
So since I really don't want to miss my friends' messages, I'm now basically just muting all other servers... which is probably not really what you guys want.
My suggestion is simple: either have separate settings for the Unread badge similar to notifications OR simply tie the display of the Unread badge to notifications; basically, it should only count as unread if it would count as a notification.

It's silly this is still a thing. Super nuanced notification settings but a binary on/off for unread badge.
