Role management
A user should have the ability to unassign roles from themselves on any server regardless of anything else.

There are very few servers where I imagine this would work well. I understand that there are some situations that would benifit from this, but think of this: a role was given to a user to prevent them from accessing channels when under investigation. If they can remove it straight away it could be destructive to the server enviornment.

Valid point, but roles aren't really intended for that use case. It's more for when someone assigns you a role you don't like, or the server assigns roles automatically because it's broken, or what have you. Whether or not server admins should be doing this is up for debate but the problem still stands.

I understand that. I think maybe having it as an option for some roles and selecting what they can actually remove should be part of this if it is implemented.

Unfortunately that just allows the problem to persist.

Most servers which have roles that would benefit from this feature use bots to create self-assignable and self-removable roles. Look into these for this feature.

Bots are not an excuse for a lack of this functions existence.

It would be a broken an absurd feature if it was actually added. Think of the implications, such as SomeBodyElse's comment.

And again, server roles are not designed to cordon off areas by being given, which seems to be being missed here. Server roles are meant to GIVE permissions to different people for the purposes of moderation, to show that they are a developer, show affiliations, and other similar such stuff. If you need to prevent a user from using channels, have something like "accepted the rules" be assigned to GRANT you access to most channels, and remove it temporarily, or just ban the user (seriously, why do people need "investigating"? when someone doesn't listen and breaks the rules you BAN them!)
