Disable special text when using symbols

A face like this *-* is impossible on dicord because it'll just make the hyphen italic. It'd be cool of it were possible to disable that. Same with bold and all the other symbols of course.

  That would be cool to be able to toggle or maybe change key binds or sequencing of characters for text markup.

  you can use a backslash to stop it becoming italic
