In-app and easy reporting to the Trust & Safety team
Currently, reporting a user who violates the Discord rules is not an easy task. You have to go to a specific form, then enter various informations. This is all the more complicated on smartphones :/
Progress had been made with the emergence of the report button on the message deletion popup, but this is not enough. So here's what I propose:
- We should be able to report a message, server, or user easily directly from the application, with an easy form.
- Reporting should be possible even in dm or if you do not have the necessary permissions on the concerned guild.
- Reports should be possible on all platforms, in the same way (including smartphones).
- Reporting should be done after message deletion, not at the same time.
- The result of a report or communication with the Trust & Safety team would be done in a private message, via a bot like Clyde.
I hope that this suggestion will be accepted and implemented quickly.

I agree that things should be made easily accessible & understandable for everyone...such as in this case being able to report wrongful things by the click of a button. We shouldn't have to jump through tons of hoops which will in turn stop alot of people from taking the time to try to make the world a better place or in this case, reporting bad servers & keeping people safe. There is public servers out there that are harmful to others & doing things that should not be done & we should be able to easily report those servers. I myself didn't even know there was a way to report servers & I've been on Discord for quite some time now. I'm sure this is the same with others as well. Yes we don't want people to abuse the easy report button if it was there...but we need an easy way to report harmful / wrongful servers.0 -
Maybe for the dropdown box you click on, there could be a button you could press to report the server you are on. You could select the discord ToS rule/s that the server is breaking and then provide more detail in a text box below. How the discord team would deal with these reports is really up to them, if they get multiple reports for the same server (with the same rules being broken and such) then the discord team could review it. If the server is breaking the discord ToS rules then the server would either be deleted, or the owner would have some kind of ban from discord.

I think the discord team should send people to spy on different servers so that everyone is more careful because of the risk their server might be banned.

Yes, it's better for the report, the report website is too hard...

The website for reports is complete. But it requires a request for a lot of evidence that can easily be done on a computer, but on mobile platforms (phones/tablets). So it's a good idea!

I support this idea !

It would facilitate reporting and avoid errors of evidence !

I'd personally think that communicating via Clyde or another bot for reports would be overkill. Other than that, I'm all out on this one! 2 -
Reporting DM's is possible, but can only be done through TNS.

An incredibly important feature for the communities that I've been apart of.
I would love to see this put into play due to the frustrating nature of taking time to report something that could be dangerous alone to even join. I am frequently visiting server listing sites, the community I'm most active in being Disboard, and there is the unavoidable problem of people using sites like that to advertise their ToS breaking - and even sometimes law breaking - servers. An example of this would be servers advertising CP - which is a serious issue. Users supporting and using Disboard, or any other listing site I would assume, hate to see it. We all do. For some (or most) of us it makes us inclined to want to report and remove them. It makes us sick to know that they exist. But there's a problem with this.
To report a server steps you currently need to take are:
- Joining the server.
- Look for the content you need to be able to report it.
- Find the specific evidence / content needed yourself (for the report to even be considered).
The reasons this brings the user trying to report the server into risk is:
- They must witness the content.
- They must be associated with the users to those that do not know their purpose being there.
- While in their trying to collect information, they run risk of being banned if the server gets removed during that time.
There could even be more issues that come accompanied to this that I did not think of or even just forgot to list. With the growing numbers of the platform, the number of these types of server grow as well. This takes more work from the users and will take more from Discord's staff as well. It is unavoidable if we want to diminish the rapid growth of these downright evil acts.
Thank you for reading.

Yes, that would be nice. But there should be a warning dialogue before you can press 'report', so that you are warned, that false or spam reports aren‘t good and you can get banned (something like this) and you can add little information in a text field for the report. 1 -
i agree lol

There is no report feature on mobile devices, there's one implementation of a report button on the iOs build I believe, but that does not do anything,it's a button to adhere to the apple store ToS not to actually report, desktop is actually the only platform that gives you the option to report a message when you delete it 0 -
To ban or punish any user or server in a meaningful way, you must fill out a form - how else would the staff know what that user / server has done? This means that you would have to fill out soo much information in that report feature, you would essentialy have to put in as much information as you do already via. the discord support. 0 -
@KerbalBoy, have the report button open said form (partially prefilled, e.g. with the reported account's name), and voila.
