Fixing 2FA

Don't blame Discord about 2FA, blame yourself for not being careful when dealing with 2FA.

It's like you set a password without setting or having the backups.

It's your fault and the available options are: keep it, in the hope that you type in the correct password one day (which is IMPOSSIBLE) or delete it.

Clone Except that, you should very much blame Discord, because other services will take a glance at your purchase history (such as that of Nitro) or will understand that obviously if you're communicating from the email that the account is owned by, that you should be able to ask to get back in with a one-time password. It doesn't make sense how you can straight up delete an account with the email you use to sign-in, but not get back into it.

ENZO , I've given up asking for their help.
Maybe you can have better luck getting your account back than me.

    Good luck.

    And

I'm curious about the private messages that was sent to me.
Maybe people I know are mocking me secretly because I don't have access to my account anymore.
If I have access back to my account, the private messages that have been sent to me will be a SURPRISE (for myself). 🎉🎊

I recently lost access to my account because my laptop's registry got corrupted and it wouldn't boot up. In the end, I had to reinstall a fresh version of Windows and I lost all my files including the 2FA backup codes. I've had the account since 2018 and I've been quite active on many servers and I even owned a 1.4k server of my own. Furthermore, I had hundreds of people added who I felt I needed to keep in touch with. I'm willing to send a video showing my laptop and the email I'm signed into(which is linked to the account I lost) or anything along those lines. Discord seriously needs to fix this sooner or later as it's becoming a nuisance for tons of users.

The most frustrating this is how I lost access to my accounts, it had to do with that recent system error that sent out people false alarm account breach errors. I was logged out of everything and my F2A was lost when I replaced my phone. I didn’t know I could disable F2A

I lost my phone in 2019. I emailed in Jan 2020. No fix. I emailed them again today and they feed me the same bullshit they fed me back then. Even the automated message is the same. And they even want me to email them so they can delete my account but not restore it. I've paid for nitro and have proof of my last messages with people and all sorts of stuff but they keep turning a blind eye and don't want to help people that are locked out. I don't know if they boost "NEW ACCOUNTS" statistics this way or what the goal is but its total bs!!!

I've had this issue every time I turned on 2fa but eventually got back into my account. Discord does not care about users who get locked out of their account due to an issue on their end as they pretty much explained to me when I emailed them about being locked out of my account. This issue seriously needs to be fixed.

@IHavePartsAndFPE Do you still care about your account?
Considering you are the creator of this thread.
Don't answer if you don't care anymore.

Does anyone know if this would actually be a possibility lol

If you have any 8 digit backup codes, you can use them to revome 2 step verification, i just did it and it work and i got the google Auth verification back. (Dont put any dashes or it might not work)

your guy's reasons for being locked out of an account is so much different than mine I didn't save any backup codes and I deleted the authenticator app I was using for whatever reason and at the time my friend wanted to use my phone to log into his account to tell his friends he'll be gone for a while since he was grounded and I forgot about my 2fa lol and my friend ended up getting his phone back like 30 minutes later, It's been 3 years and I'm still hoping to log back into it lol

Well, the exact same thing happend to me yersterday. This is an alt account btw. It's frustrating that a week ago I bought nitro, and I can't use it. :( And annoys me the fact that, they can delete your account, but can't help you recover it. Discord needs to change this thing. The last 12 hours I just wasted my time trying to fix something that can't be fixed. :(

Yes I spent lots of time trying to get back in too just don’t ask them to delete it we all try to wait it out I too thought the same if they can delete it why can’t they just let us back in?

Three days ago I post this and still pending approval.

    👇
Two months have passed since I asked the creator of this thread and no answer. (above)

The conclusion is "create a new account".
    👆

If this post wasn't "pending", I guess I used too many big words in a row.

I see my pending post has been deleted. 👀

Can locked users get access back to their account, just think of it as a ban for a few years, if the user still cares they can get it back.

I asked them the same, but no reply from them yet, like THEY OWN DISCORD, it's their platform. I confirmed my identity from emails and still can't get my account. My account is over 3.8 yr old, and also has ownership of a community. Please let me get back into my account.

Happened to me a few days ago. I had my mobile and email linked. My phone got wiped, which also had my back up 2FA codes. I pleaded that I can prove I own the account, but they merely suggested to just get it wiped and deleted. I hope someday they realize there's a flaw in the 2FA procedures. Have us prove we own it better to get the 2FA removed. I tried "resend code" for my mobile several times after which suddenly, the number got removed from my account, thats just super unfair.

My account was made since 2015, its almost 6 years old. All the messages, servers and etc gone....

Same story for me here. I got a new phone a few months back and was no longer logged into Discord on any devices. Since I'm not logged in anywhere, I can't setup Google Authenticator on my new phone. And since I need a Google Authenticator code to login, there's no way to log into my account. I created my account back in 2016 and somewhere along the lines lost my backup codes. I contacted support and was told I'll need to just create a new account :(

I've made this new account and am simply not going to enable 2FA on it; at least not until they have an option besides Google Authenticator, such as SMS. Even if somebody breaks their phone or purchases a new one, they often keep their same phone number, so being able to 2FA via SMS message would be a huge win. Ideally you'd be able to set both up and use either one.

If only discord could just get into our accounts manually so that we didn't need to create new ones.

The system is broken and we need to be able to access our data connected to the accounts.

Same problem here, the problem is, I do have a phone but it has no credits in it so I can't receive any calls or DMs. Urg, I just want my account back. I'm the owner of 3 servers, two of which have no additional staff to deal with new members, how am I supposed to deal with them if I can't log back to my account and Discord still hasn't emailed me back?

Well, I got a reply back saying that they won't be removing the phone verification setting from my account which sucks. They also suggested that it had something to do with my network or smth. They said that they can't reveal the specifics of the system's inner workings for "privacy reasons". I've tried using the same phone number, but then again- I don't remember enabling the 2 FA in the first place.

What sucks is that they make us use a system that is poorly managed. Ever since updates come yo mobile it gets worse. No one can retrieve their accounts and they don't have ways to bypass the 2FA if the account was never signed in on a desktop in the first place. I just lost 5 years worth of memories all because the 2FA being active and couldn't sign in because of it not having another way of loging in through another method without a pc or desktop.
