Quality of Life Improvements
I love Discord. I have had it for about 2 years now, and have recently started my own server and make my own bot using Discord's API. I've noticed a few details that I feel would greatly increase the quality of the product. I'll lay them out in a list because it's easiest
- Deleting messages that ping you should remove the ping. Especially in larger servers, it's difficult to try and search through hundreds of messages to realize the message that pinged you was deleted.
- Right-clicking a role in the "Roles" tab under server settings could have an option to "Create a new role" and will put it below it (unless you right-clicked the everyone role, where it should put it above it). This will make it far easier to make roles in servers without having to drag them all the way to the top or to the place it needs to go. Just simply right-click right where you want it and it's there.
- Sometimes it's helpful to play around with settings you may not have when testing bots made using Discord's API. These include things like boosts, nitro, server leaves and joins, and more. I propose a way to create a new kind of server called a testing server. Nobody but you can be in it (and of course bots), and the only difference is you can run API events on it without the need for those events to actually happen. And since you don't need to see the members, it could replace the right sidebar with dropdowns for the different events. This option could only be available for people who have dev mode turned on in Discord to keep things simple for new members.
