Twitter embedded media
When someone posts a twitter link with a gif or video, attempting to play the embedded media will, more often than not, give you the error "The media could not be played", and then you'd have to click the url and watch it on twitter instead.
Can this be fixed please?

Twitter videos play fine on Chrome but not Firefox. When in Firefox, Twitter video just goes blank.

I use the PC App.

Hello!
Same question: Tested it on Opera, Firefox and Cliqz ...
Opera - get the message "The media could not be played"
Firefox and Cliqz .. after clicking on it .. it stays blank ...
Any ideas to fix this? Some special browser-settings ... hmm
Every hint would be appreciated ;-)1 -
SOLVED "MY" PROBLEM:
Found out by accident (tinkered around with codices and reset the browser - Opera) aso aso.
that - here it comes:
The " The media can not be played " message appears on Discord
when
I am logged in my Twitter Account additionally.
I logged out of Twitter .... tried to run the video file from Twitter
IN DISCORD ... and yeah it worked/s fine.
Guess the Twitter - Media - Player might be linked - or only the data ...
but hey .... ev. give me note if it works for you too.
Wish you all the best of luck ... and ... have fun;-)0 -
Will try although I wouldn’t want to log out out of Twitter every time just so I can play a Twitter video in Discord. Works fine on other forum platforms so not sure why wouldn’t on Discord.

I logged out of Twitter and back in. Twitter asked me to confirm I’m not a robot and then videos played on Discord.

I'm using the PC app version and have the same symptoms.
It's not a smart method, but it's solved, so I'll write it here.
* During the restoration work, do not take any action other than those described below.1. Press the play button on Twitter media.
(Probably "The media could not be played." Is displayed.)2. Open Developer Tools.
[Windows] Ctrl + Shift + I
[Mac] Cmd + Opt + I3. Select "Application" from the tabs at the top of the window.
* If there is no Application tab
"Customize and control Dev Tools"-> "More tools"-> "Application" at the top right of the window4. "Storage"-> "Cookies"-> Right-click "https://twitter.com" in the menu on the left side of the window and execute "Clear".
5. Close Developer Tools.
You should be able to play it by reloading the page.
I solved it this way.3 -
Discord seems to use oEmbed information for embedding the Twitter links, while they should probably use Open Graph. Because apparently for some reason they only display one twitter image, and sometimes images are shown as a video, but is just an image.

Any ETA on when this will be fixed? This has been an issue for more than a year or something.
