I want to post BMP files and make them embed instead of having to convert them to a jpg/png

  I agree with this, it's annoying having to convert .bmp to .jpg or .png, I don't know why there isn't already support for this format.

  I am surprised .bmp wasn't supported since the very beginning as .bmp was, and still is, used a lot. It would be incredibly simple to support bmp so I don't know why it isn't already. I do hope it does get supported though because a lot of games also save screenshots as .bmp. If the file is under he upload limit then what exactly is the issue?
