Pinned Announcement feature
Hello everyone,
Does anyone feel like the pinned messages on Discord get any attention?
I feel a lot of people try to use pinned messages for rules and it usually get buried under the rest of the comments. Typically in this instance, a lot of people will simply create a new channel for rules and make it so no one can comment in it, but generally it just adds clutter to a server or isn't viewed at all.
I suggest we make an announcement feature. This will permanently be included at the top of all text channels and can be used for pretty much anything. Rules, FAQ, Announcements etc.
It will have a toggle to hide, in case you don't want to see it anymore.
I think this will reduce the amount of clutter servers face with several channels for several announcements, but also guarantees more visibility of their posts.
We should be able to make an announcement unique per text channel. So that each one can have it's own announcement that's specific to that channels discussion/topic.
Bonus: It would be nice if we had the feature to potentially send out a server wide announcement update, to push to all channels for big events. (It would erase the previous announcements, but it would be quicker than going to every channel to update it manually)

There are so many servers on Discord that have a minimum 5 channels JUST for announcements and such.
Eliminate those unnecessary channels and place it in the text channels themselves. It'll get more exposure and it makes more sense.
Up vote, make me famous....I mean make this a feature.

Personally I dont think the main purpose should be to eliminate "cluttered" channels, I think that your idea has potential, but I dont think it would eliminate those "unnecessary" channels. In my opinion I think that people would still make separate channels than using pinned messages in certain channels. Plus discord does have a description, so you can write the rules ETC.. in there so I think that feature that you're thinking of is kinda already there, just not the whole Idea you were thinking of. At the end of the day discord lets us make the servers for how WE want, I dont think we should make features to uniform servers. We wont know till it happens or not. Oh well

A case I'd use this for is in my specific games channels where I would have a setup guide and links/resources and have it always be the first thing you see when you click on the channel. Then at the end of the "pin" or message (scrolling down) the regular chat would appear like normal. Sorta like like a Original Post in a forum but the message isn't a separate post, but just a "pin" or "highlight" of a regular message. If it could be toggled to hide/show that'd be great.
With this I'd be able to have a hub of my favorite games where I can easily and neatly share my links/resources/configs/setup guide etc.

Yes please. Pinned messages are useless at the moment. Most ppl don't know where to find them either if they're new to Discord.
When a message is pinned, everyone should see them big & at the top or popped up like someone else suggested. Then have the choice to dismiss so it's no longer obstructing their view.
