Linux - Screen Share Sound Support
With Screen Sharing sound already supported on Windows, I would like Screen Sharing to be supported for Discord on Linux as well.
Gaming on Linux exists and does relatively well despite what many naysayers think or wish to believe and having this support for users such as myself would make this less frustrating.
(Not to mention that we're not even mentioned in the supported platforms art along with the other logos at the bottom of the site's webpages...)

How long can discord keep ignoring this?

Please. Give us support for audio.

Please fix or at least officially respond to this issue. Even if only some distributions/audio servers were supported it would still be an improvement.
Massive props to Jake/ReallyAmused for, as far as I know, being the only person on the Discord team to actually engage with this issue at all recently (on Reddit).

It's so unnecessary for this to take so long. Please implement it. We need it.

Discord, hurry up and fix this already. This is the highest upvoted post in the entire voice and video section. Are you guys even reading the feedback section?
Multiple years ago you said you were working on this issue, and you STILL haven't done anything whatsoever. With the Steam Deck on the horizon, you guys need to fix this now or I can guarantee that Steam Deck users will not be choosing Discord as their chat platform.

Yesterday during the discord down, we went to vc in Telegram, and found out that it can stream with audio, and uses far less resources than discord, so yeah, it's not like Discord is the only option, if it's not fixed a solution will be found by the linux users

Yes, absolutely. Especially with Steam Deck right around the corner, I would love to not have to mess around with NoiseTorch or Soundux for basic functions...
Also, while I'm here, please fix RPC with Steam. It still shows pressure-vessel-wrap whenever the app is launched.
Even something basic like Desktop audio would be great. At least then, I can just set up a merger audio setup or something.

I would really like to see this work properly on my desktop and laptop. I did set up a VM (let's face it, this was for testing) where I installed Kubuntu 20.04.3 and then I installed the snap discord client and then somehow, I'm not sure how, I get audio off of my streams (despite Discord saying I may not.) Try this on Bare Metal, and nada. Even using the same install media. Do better, Discord.

I can't believe this is still an issue to this day. For crying out loud, I just want to be able to stream games to my friends from an operating system I actually like using. I'd honestly consider running the Windows version of Discord in WINE at this point if it weren't for the fact that Chromium apps don't work well in WINE.
Atomo If the issue has to do with Chromium like you said, then maybe we need to start getting on their case about it until they do something.3 -

Please, we need it. Not supporting Linux in 2022 is dumb.

Honestly kind of sad we still haven't heard anything from this. It's been literally a year since this topic was posted, and it beats every other topic on this board by a considerable amount. I've been waiting for this feature for a while.

Support and feature requests are long dead, but here's hoping they get this figured out for steamdeck

If you filter https://support.discord.com/hc/de/community/posts?filter_by=all&sort_by=votes by votes on posts, it should be the second one, but they just hide it there, you have to go to https://support.discord.com/hc/de/community/topics/360001625852-Voice-and-Video?sort_by=votes find it

Discord, Linux Gamers need a way to screen share with audio, Please add this already, even teamviewer has audio sharing, with the steam deck coming out it needs to be added. Thanks

On one hand it is understandable that it has been drawn out this long, but now, with the release of the steam deck and proton 7, gaming and just life on Linux in general is more alive than ever, and will only continue to grow.
The discord development team could even use flatpak instead of having to maintain different packages for Linux, and users can simply be expected to install the application on a system level from flathub. But this feature, screen sharing with audio support, should be on Linux right now.
Hopefully it is already in development or the team at discord will decide to work on this asap.2 -
yeah that would actually be nice kinda wished they cared more about linux users i havent been ableto fix the audio sharing in a year now and i keep getting the same response to my question

Please discord, at least give us a status report or something. I use nitro to boost my friends server and I can't even take advantage of its benefits. Even if the sound doesn't work for some reason please at least get the screen sharing working on Wayland.
