What’s the craziest company logo ever?
I always thought the most sinister logo I drive past nearly every day is that of Sherwin-Williams.
Just look at the company’s slogan “Cover the Earth!” Together with the logo image it evokes, to me, a feeling out of War of the Worlds or some crazy theory involving a deep superconspiracy. Is Sherwin Williams a secret society set on world domination and extermination of life on earth? Why is the covering blood red? Why is the earth’s axis tilted about 90 degrees clockwise from normal so that North America, and specifically the northern part of the United States, facing North? It is like the planet has been skewered on a spit and the US is positioned to get covered with maximum tasty planet sauce before being lowered into the glowing fire. This blood-covered, I mean paint-covered, logo has been in use since 1893 in one version or another. Prior to that the logo was a chameleon, symbolizing a company that can make any color. After 1893, the focus was obviously less about color and more about aggressive global expansion and sheer dominance of the paint industry anywhere and everywhere, world-wide.
