Recording for Voice, Video, Screen, and (possibly) a Text-Channel for Transcript

This would be a perfect feature for online classes, DnD sessions, podcasts, conferences, vibing, gaming, karaoke, lectures, etc. I was just about to recommend Discord as the best platform for online classes for my school instead of their chosen streaming site "Google Meets" or "Zoom", but then I realized Discord doesn't have a recording function, google has one and it's really convenient as it could record the site and it instantly saves to the organizer's google drive without having to use the room owner's internet to upload it nor having to use CPU for recording.

Business-wise, I'm not good at this, I'm probably saying incorrect things, but, this could be a good investment for large companies who requires online conference for recordings, gain more customers. All in all a good feature.

My suggestion would be, If the person in a room or owned by a person records a session in the room when they end the session, the video gets sent to the cloud server the recorder or room owner linked their account with, One Drive, Google Drive, Mega Cloud, or something else. It records the room in the Discord's server as much as possible for convenience since nobody has super-fast internet or a high CPU PC for recording. Room owners get the ability to mute users in cases where they are being disruptive.

Maybe a text channel or a chat box recording on the current recording session for a transcript.

Privacy-wise, give a disclaimer when users join a session in a recording. If they disagree they'll be able to join but they are not able to unmute or do anything, they are only allowed to join.

  • Disclaimer for users joining a room that's in session or about to record.
  • Room owners get the ability to mute users.
