Nicknames for Friends

It would be cool if Discord could implement a features like Steam's where you can give your friends local nicknames, and then you could search them up by that name. I use discord to the point where if my friend changes their nickname and pfp one night, I'm going to have to spend an hour the next day finding their dm. It would be a very useful feature and I have a feeling a lot of people would agree.

    yes this would help significantly to be able to give a nickname to a friend.

    even if it was something as simple as

    example:

    friends_nick_name (friends_discord_name)

    just a UI change that would make life so much easier. so many use the notes to give their friends nicknames so they remember who they are.

    Steam has this already but it sure would be nice if discord did too.  One friend changes their name and they are G-O-N-E until I figure out the change. :(

    *note* Searched here and google and people have been asking for this for at LEAST four years. :(

    We should be able to set local nicknames and I'm surprised it still isn't a thing years after people started asking for it as a feature request. I don't care to see silly names that can change regularly and would much prefer to set a local nickname as their real name, or what I know them as. This can't be difficult to implement since the tags refer to a user ID and not that specific name (tags work if you change your name after the tag is made).
