Suggestion: Gender pronouns!

On many of the discord servers I'm on, everyone has their pronouns right in their usernames. On the server I run, we use roles for gender pronouns. This is so commonly needed it should be built in to discord! It's considered an accessibility feature by many.

If not a field specifically for pronouns, then at least a short bio people can use for it. Just a one-liner that I can see when I click a person's name. Just enough space for them to list pronouns, clan/server affiliations, or what they're named on other servers / on social media.

    I'm pretty sure that statuses can be used the same way.

    Oh that's an interesting idea... But I only JUST realized custom statuses were a thing, or that I could see people's custom status text by clicking their names then hovering over the icon on their picture. I think that's probably too subtle for most users, which is why our servers tend to put pronouns right in your screen name.

    The weirdest feature of Discord is I can add "notes" on other people that show up exactly where I would want a person's own self-written bio to be. So once I learn a person's pronouns I can write them there myself, but only I will ever see it. It's helpful but 99% of the time what I write in the notes field (eg their real name, their social media info) is exactly what they would have written in a bio themselves.

    Did you assign them roles manually or did you assign it for them? I made a server for a club and they suggested I make roles for gender and interests. I've tried to do it through the Mee6 bot in custom commands and reaction roles but they only let me have two or three commands without having premium. Has anyone else encountered this problem before and has found a solution?

    Yeah I use carl-bot reaction roles and let people choose their name color the same way. I'm pretty sure the free version allows up to 250 roles.
