Developer Badge
Everybody who is interested in that topic know already what happened. If not: Discord removed the developer badge for everyone who applied after august 19th.
I understand why this step was necessary: too many people just created a bot to get the badge. That is not fair to everybody who work hard on the bot and put much time into the programming and also designing side.
But you, Discord, can change it again. You took the badge away suddenly (seems to me). I applied for the verification, my bot gots verified and I received no badge. I asked a few very well known developer and somewhere else around, what happened. Then I got the information that the badge won't be given in the future. That announcement came on august 19th and everyone who applied before got it. So no warning time of 1 or 2 weeks in advance.
Was this step the right one? The answer is yes and no. Yes, it is good that fake bot builder won't get the badge anymore. No, because everyone else is effected by that. You can give the badge minimum until october 7th as from this time further regulations will be enrolled. That was said the very beginning. The date was said at the very beginning. So I think, it would be a good idea to grant it until this date, because everybody who works in that busines of developing knows the magic october 7th.
If you won't do it, ok. But lets see how you can ensure that only real bot (developer) get the badge...
-First of all: if you plan to bring the badge back for everyone who applied before october 7th, don't announce it. Those who want to get the bot verified and don't only code for the badge, will still apply for verification. Because the badge is not granted anymore, all fake builders will stay away because there is no further interest from their side. So don't announce it, just do it and surprie us at this date from above.
If the badge won't return now, you can do a second verification only for the badge if the first one gets passed. Ideas are below:
-Server count: put the server count higher to around 300. If the server number is too high, it is difficult for fake bot builder to reach this requirement, as their bots have (often) no functionalities. There should be also a maximum of 5% from all servers which are hosted by the same owner. Example: bot is at 80 server, maximum 4 server can be owned by the same person (80*0,05).
-Member count/average: set a member count from all servers the bot is in as a requirement. If you think this can be also faked, do average. Divide the total member count the bot counts by the servers the bot is in. Do a minimum of 1500 membes per server to ensure that this can not be faked.
-Support server: the bot owners have to create a support server. All people who take the verification serious have normally a support server. They should enable the community server, have at least one announcement channe which can be followed and some roles like "Developer", "Technician", "Member", "News". In addition there should be minimum 50% of the bot servers as members on the support server. So if the bot is in 300 servers, there have to be min 150 members on the support server. The bot owner has to be the server owner. They should give "proofs" in form of screenshots.
-Only one member gets the badge: if a bot is build from a team, only one of them will get the badge. This person is in 99% the main leader and also owner of the support server. With that you ensure, that no spaces from teams are sold to get the badge. 1 Bot = 1 Badge.
-Account time: the account which is used for the application of the badge has to be created at least 1 year ago. You ensure that they don't just come to discord to get badges with multiple accounts.
I really hope, that you (the community) read my post until here. If you did, thanks a lot for listening to me. When you (Discord; the expression "you" in my text refers most the time to Discord (Developer)) read that, please take a deep look to my suggestions. You don't have to take everything I said, but 1 or 2 aspects would be great and safe enough, I think.
If anyone has further ideas or comments, just say. Tell also your developer friends about this post from me, so that this posts will get enough votes and comments to be seen by Discord.
And who knows, maybe he pressure gets too high that they will at least think about how to return the badge back.
Thank you for your attention

"So if the bot is in 300 servers, there have to be min 150 members on the support server."
That.. almost never happens
Dank Memer, at 3.5 Million servers, has 366,864 members. There is not a server on Discord with over a million members, so this is inherently flawed. Yes, of course it would be different for large bots. Eligibility based on the size of your support server is just down right ridiculous. My bot at 13K servers has less than 1K members in its support server.
"The bot owner has to be the server owner."
Quite a few bot developers get the bot to create the support server, which they can do at the start of the bot (under 10 servers), so this wouldn't work.
"They should give "proofs" in form of screenshots."
Screenshots can be easily faked with inspect element
"Member count/average: set a member count from all servers the bot is in as a requirement. If you think this can be also faked, do average. Divide the total member count the bot counts by the server the bot is in. Do a minimum of 1500 to ensure that can not be faked."
a.) Alt accounts. Lots and lots of alt accounts. If this seems implausible, people can get desperate.
b.) Some bots are meant for very small servers, so this also wouldn't work
"the account which is used for the application of the badge has to be created at least 1 year ago. You ensure that they don't just come to discord to get badges with multiple accounts."
Some people come to Discord specifically to develop, or create a bot early within their time on Discord. I know some people who created a bot within their first few months on Discord. Considering the hard limit on server count, this could never work without basically limiting when you can make bots, which is something that would be astronomically stupid to do.

thank you for your feedback.
the exact numbers can be set however it works. they are only some numbers I had in my brain.
the part which is important is the general idea and system behind each aspect.

I cant fully agree with this.
Though I think they should have made minimum server count 500+ for verification. As 75 servers is a very low target to achieve.1 -
Great article. It helps a lot for my work. Thanks for sharing these effective and helpful ways. TYPHOON TV APK

You’re telling me that all this work is worth it just so some people can have a badge. Hell no doing all of this for just a badge verification is such a waste and is going to benefit like .01 % if not less of their users.

tbh I think the bot should also have some sort of verification on some high ranking 3rd party list, such as Top.GG. TopGG will have testers test EVERY ASPECT of your bot, which is useful because it weeds out the fakers.
