Marking Channels as Important for the Client

I'd personally find it really useful if channels could be designated as important. Not necessarily through notification settings, but rather, I'd like it if there was a way to accent a channel with, say, a special icon. Said icon only appears for you, and serves as a way to mark out a channel as one you need to read in a way that's more reliable than leaving a message ticked as unread.

How exactly this is implimented, I'm not sure of, but it would make my life far easier when I don't want to have upwards of 40 channels muted when all I want is for the channels I need to be able to read to be differentiated with more than just an unread box.
