Searched specifically for this to see if it was reported, this is so frustrating.

Yes, super annoying and unnecessary. This needs to be fixed.
Definitely wasn't the case before the update.

Yup, this has been driving me up a wall lately. Really need this fixed, my muscle memory is killing me.

Really want them to change it back. Submitted a bug report and got told this was intended behavior and its driving me insane. I HATE having to click the text box again in order to type.

Intended behaviour? Making things less intuitive and more obtrusive on purpose? That is incredibly dumb. It doesn't even serve a prupose. There is no positive aspect to this. Change it back.

Me stopping my nitro subscription is also intended behaviour. Good job discord, on hiring amateurs in your team!

Yes! This is absolutely annopying and should be changed back! I hate having to click the chat box each time I send a screenshot. I should be able to press enter and refocus. It takes away from my typing and the conversaion and it unnecessary.

No change to this issue as of the update today.

    Still beyond aggravating.

Oh my god, same here! I'm stuck on Chromebook currently so I have to use the Web version, it's not bad but it's so irritating whenever I send a message!

Can I also point out that I don't get error messages sometimes when I try to do some things, instead it just leads me nowhere from where I wanted and I end up becoming puzzled? (Sure this is just me, but I forgot my examples.)

Anyway, we for real need a polish update that just overhauls tons of bugs and additional tweaking values for stuff that people get irritated by.

Actually, it DID always used to do this, BUT typing with Discord up would automatically select the text box, so it was easy not to notice. The problem isn't the deselection of the text box being a new behaviour, but the RESELECTION that's been removed from happening.

My friend and I are having this exact issue. Discord really needs to stop being so trash.

Whenever they upload half a decent change, they also add twice as many bugs. They need to stop adding shit and just fix their broken mess...

The fact that this is "intentional" proves how braindead Discord really is. There's no way any sane person would see a change like this as improvement or beneficial in any way.

There's a slight workaround though, you can press Ctrl+V and it focuses back to the chat box. Problem is that it obviously pastes whatever you have on clipboard lol.

This Ctrl+V workaround doesn't work if your attachment is in the clipboard though. :]

pshq Of course not. That's kinda obvious lol. If you have text or an emote on clipboard it works.

Yeah, but I send a lot of pictures using Ctrl+V and your workaround for this bug/"feature" wouldn't work for me at all.

I was just looking for any topics related to not directly focusing the input box upon focusing the app/beginning of typing, but +1 regarding what OP said too.

    An Arch user.

pshq Yes of course, performing the bug isn't gonna work around the bug. Cmon man, shouldn't have to state the obvious.

    Yeah, no need. Just saying.

Seeing intermittent (not consistent) moments where after alt+tabbing without the text box selected, this is breaking still. But it's MOSTLY fixed now...

Whatever update they just pushed out within ~1h of making this post has fixed this regression.

    Finally can rest easy.
