i just did a quick test on my macbook pro m1 16gm ram I timed the time the app took to open and to enter a voice channel, the average time dropped from 21 seconds to 7 seconds compared to the rosetta version. Discord when opening has a certain delay to enter the server and load something that has disappeared in the canary version that appears to be in m1 now I will monitor energy consumption!

The new native Discord Canary works really well. Better late than never. Thank you Discord.

I can (finally) enable Krisp on the new Discord Canary....well that was a long wait, but anyway, thank you Discord devs!

Just updated to the Discord Canary, but any sounds coming from my M1 MacBook Pro is still being picked up(i.e my music that I listen on Spotify) by its built in mic while on voice channels. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's my experience with using the M1 version of Canary over the past few days:

Performance wise, the renderer is the most variable part which can go up to 50% CPU but usually hovers around 20-30% while actively using Discord. When Discord is not active (other app is focused), it usually hovers around ~5%. Regular Discord (which still uses Intel) usually hovers around 50-60% CPU but can peak much higher.

I originally had some trouble with the app freezing but after updating to a later version that seems to have cleared up. Besides that, I haven't experienced any other issues.

Overall I'm fairly satisfied with the update, besides the time it took for it to be made.

    I'm using a 2020 M1 MacBook Air (Base Model)

Looks like the PTB branch is a Universal app now as well.

Canary is an official version, it’s just a beta. As for it being on regular Discord (stable/non-beta), I’m guessing not very long since it’s pretty stable and already on PTB, but there hasn’t been any official news from Discord. And given how the last year was, I’d be surprised if we did get any news.

Hopefully by the time it hits stable, they'll fix my SO's issue. With the two cameras in their system, either or, or only one of them connected, it crashes the instant a video call is started. The stable release running under Rosetta works.

Canary works fine for me, though.

owine The one from https://ptb.discord.com/ is not Universal.

TheArmKing It is, but you need to go to https://ptb.discord.com/download and scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to find its download button

The download button at the top of the page is the stable client, despite being on the PTB website (wtf Discord?)

    +1 for native app

I'm using Discord on a 2021 16" MacBookPro and it is running really slow with many frame-drops. I don't know if it's related to the pro motion display but this is really annoying so I have unfortunately switched to the web app.

Discord Canary has been working amazingly well on both my M1 Macs. Will stick with that until it's officially out. No bugs. Rock solid.

PTB version also looks working good

    +1 Apple Silicon native support.

Discord will probably adjust to this since Apple are shifting all there Macs to ARM. Probably be more logical to switch all their applications to ARM completely since iPad/iPhones use ARM already.

Does anyone know when the Apple Silicon version will be available to everyone? I know it's in beta, but I'm waiting for a stable version.

We have no idea. However, the Canary build runs great and it hasn't crashed once on me. You'll be fine using it.

Any bugs or performance issues on the canary build? Also does the canary build have feature parity with the official build?

Husky I've used canary (Alpha) since it has released for M1 and haven't had a single issue.
I'll switch to the public test build (Beta) now that it has M1 support too though, as that won't do 10 updates every time I launch it haha

I encountered two issues that combine into one, in the PTB version on Apple Silicon.

    1) Granting the Accessibility permission allows it to bind globally to media keys, and when it does, sometimes it takes over the Play/Pause key indiscriminately, preventing other apps from taking back over when they become the active player app.

    2) If you revoke the Accessibility permission while it's running, it will lock up the keyboard input for the entire system until you log into the machine with SSH and `kill $(pgrep Discord)`. If you have no SSH access to do this, then you basically have to reset the machine.

I would like to see 120hz scrolling enabled its 60hz and looks very choppy on my MBP 14. I guess m1 has been out for a year now and there's still no way to run it natively.

Thanks for missing out on the existing discussion. Also the PTB is available for M1, which is great if you don't like downloading 10 updates multiple times per day.
