Lost Password, 2FA, and Backup Codes.
Long story short, I lost all three of these things to get back into my account. I am currently writing from an alt account. There's gotta be a way I can verify my identity to Discord somehow to get back into my account. I have two sign-in sessions on both PC and Mac. This account means so much to me as it has 4 years' worth of conversations. I heavily relied on the use of the QR Code to get into my account. Unfortunately, I have been signed out on mobile, and I can not get into my account to change the password as I need either the 2FA or the back-up codes. My hard disk drive failed a year or so ago and I must've never thought to redownload the Discord back-up codes .txt file. I know that for security reasons, Discord cannot change my email or password for security reasons. I beg that there is a way to get back into this account. What I don't understand is how services like Google, Playstation, and even something such as LastPass, will let you recover your account via e-mail without 2FA. So many services have things such as security questions, what was the last password you remember, etc. Please help me get back in.

Really hate what is going on, was asked to verify by phone but my sim card is now deactivated, had my account since 2016 and no backup codes anywhere. The amount of similar threads on this site and elsewhere is astonishing. Discord please actually take steps to make account recovery viable.

I have the same problem except I'm still currently logged in. I think I made a typo when I recently changed my password because, for some brilliant reason, discord only has you input it once, so my current password could have a typo in it and I can't figure it out. Can't reset my password because I don't have my backup codes downloaded, and I can't see my backup codes because I don't know my password.

Same thing! I can't remember my password and I dont have my 2FA anymore and even my backup codes. I can verify every nook and cranny that I own the account I'm about to lose just because of a 2FA and after I tried spamming to recover a code using my mobile number Discord forcefully removed it!!!

Hey, I dont know if youll see this, but here ya go:
NOTE: You will need to reply to this email if you would like to forward this ticket to our support team!
This is an automated response to your ticket (15825742)!
Hey there,
Clyde, Discord Support Bot here, sending you an automated message here first before I escalate you to one of our support specialists since I noticed you were writing in about a 2FA lockout!
I’m terribly sorry to hear about this situation with your 2FA! To unlock the account, are you still logged into your Discord account on your mobile, desktop or browser app by any chance? If so, you can disable two factor authentication by using the "View Backup Codes" option in "User Settings" following these steps below:
- Press the User Settings cog and you'll automatically be taken to the "My Account" tab (For the mobile app, you’ll need to press “My Account”.)
- Press "View Backup codes" and it'll prompt you to enter your account password.
- Once you enter your password, you'll see a list of ten 8-digit backup codes! Immediately screenshot this, download them, or take a picture of them (or all of the above)!
- Then press "Remove 2FA" and it will prompt you to enter in a 6-digit code.
- Ignore that prompt, and enter in only one of your 8-digit backup codes.
- Once you enter it in, it should disable two factor authentication. (Note: After you disable two factor authentication, the current backup codes will become invalid)
If you aren't logged into your account on any clients, then you can search your PC for "discord_backup_codes.txt" which is the default file name that the codes would be under if you saved them previously. Or if you previously screenshotted them on your mobile device, you can try searching for that screenshot in your photo gallery.
Please try these steps above, and if you have any other questions/issues with your codes not working or need further clarification, don’t hesitate to respond back here so one of our team members can help!
Cheers,
Clyde, Discord Support BotREMINDER: If none of the above solved your issue/question, you will need to reply back to this email if you would like to forward this ticket to our support team!
