Notification Setting Positive Overrides

It would be extremely useful to have the ability to override notification settings and sounds in a "positive" or "opt-in" manner in addition to the current "opt-out" or "negative" way.  To give an example for my use case, I have notifications disabled for most servers, and have also turned off new message sounds and desktop notifications, because while it is nice to have the red badges for new pings, the reality is that most are not urgent, and I'd like to handle them on my own time in one batch instead of being interrupted with a beep basically every 30 seconds when people message me during busy parts of the day.  The problem with my current configuration, however, is that there are a small handful of channels and people for which I really want to know about pings immediately with a beep, desktop notification, etc. even if I am not looking at the program itself.

Right now, the only way to get even close to this result is to turn back on message/mention sounds globally, and then mute every single server/channel/DM besides the two or three for which I need more insistent notifications.  Doing this would then mean that I have to go sift through everything in those dozens of servers, channels, and DMs constantly to know if there are less urgent things that I still need to see, but for which I didn't require an urgent notification.

Some kind of additional per-channel/-server/-DM opt-in model for notifications, as well as separating out sounds and desktop notifications from global settings into additional options for per-channel/-server/-DM notifications would be incredibly helpful.
