It would be nice if a setting could be added to each server for replies similar to the notification settings. 3 options could be given so server owners can set reply pings to default on or off and a 3rd option where it could be set to stay as it was last used so if it is turned off it stays off until turned on and vice versa. It would also be nice if you added this to individual account settings where individuals could choose themselves similarly to notification choices whether or not they want the ping on or off by default or to remain as it was last used: Just like the options for server owners. Also, it would be nice if edits didn't turn the ping back on.

    i think its a great feature just badly implemented for this reason, and most of the time i find users spamming this reply feature even in normal conversations, and they are not aware of the notifications it spam the user with. it should have come with options to default it to @ mention notifications on as well as off, toggling it every time is a pain and users forget. 

    Servers as well should have an option to disable this specific notification type.

    The ability for there to be more permissions that owners can set on their servers would be great, especially concerning pings. I hope something like this gets added!

    Oh yes, I Agree.
    I try to text very quickly and turning that ping off is likely to be missed. I already have a couple of people who complain that I don't turn pings off.

    Yes and especially when Discord automatically turns the ping back on when you edit is so annoying.

    I help run a server with 6000 users whose function is to provide alerts through role mentions. Often these alerts are time-sensitive and require a response on the order of minutes. Being able to disable the name @-mention on replies for our server would keep us from having to rely on "etiquette" and make it less stressful for new users who are unaware of the automatic ping that results from a reply/for users who sometimes forget to turn it off.

    This has been requested everywhere in every publicly facing communication discord has. It's insanity that it hasn't been changed to default off yet.
