Can't send message, no response to input request

Messaging a friend while at work, playing games full screen but tabbed out into discord. Using Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Whether I type or write using the virtual keyboard, the blue send button and enter key seem completely unresponsive, even when button mashed. I've tried swapping applications in and out of my game to fix it and that didn't work. I've tried disabling and re-enabling the Bluetooth devices but that didn't work either. The only thing I've found that works is enabling the virtual keyboard, and even then it doesn't always work. I've restart my phone so hopefully this will prevent it from happening again. Using a OnePlus 8 pro with virtual keyboard Gboard version 10.1.04.3... etc

Edit: No, restarting the phone hasn't resolved the issue. These are the steps taken to produce this bug.

Turn on phone.

Turn on keyboard.

Keyboard is connected.

Discord is open.

Message is typed via bluetooth keyboard.

Hitting the enter key does nothing.

Pressing the enter key on the phone screen does nothing.
