Hey everyone!

So since October there is no longer a way to earn the Developer Badge. It's been awhile so I thought why not make a blog about it?

Why the Discord Developer Badge should come back?

There are alot of Bot Developers working hours and hours to make their bot, this also attracts people to Discord to play with bots as a kind of minigame thing, I really dont get why we cant longer get the Developer Badge since a solution like putting a higher requirement such as having your bot in 500-1000 servers since that is hard to exploit / fake. Atleast give the Bot Developers and show some appreciation to them since they are the ones who attracts the most people towards Discord and keep people busy and having lots of fun on Discord!

Currently I have a bot thats in 5K+ servers and I get alot of times the same question about why I dont have the Developer Badge. How are we able to show other people that we are Bot Developers and are approved by Discord?

If there isnt a solution for this then?

I would suggest just deleting the Developer Badge since there are a bunch of people selling their accounts with the badge and earning money with it. Not really the way right?

    You can hardly exploit it anyway.
    If you just invite your app to 75 servers yourself, they are gonna see it as Inorganic Growth and you can't apply.
    So the reason for why they removed the badge in the first place isn't really valid anymore is it? xd

    Though to prevent this EVEN MORE, I think it's a good idea to raise the requirement to 1.000 servers.
    So the process of getting a verified app is the same; 75+ servers and you can get your app verified, but the developer doesn't get the badge before 1.000.

    And if you look at it from a different angle, making the badge not available anymore just created more issues.
    People are selling/buying accounts with the badge, which Discord doesn't want either.

    So the way I see it, there's no reason why not to bring the badge back, probably just with larger requirements.
