option for member chat mute

as a moderator and new to this.. it would be nice to be able to one click a member and mute them from all chats but still allowing them to read messages.. we are trying to run a clean discord and be nice to mute them rather than kick them or go through each chat changing settings

  You can just create a role to do this. Call it "Muted" or something like that and remove it's permission to send messages. That will solve your problem straight away.

  Saluki in a bigger server with multiple roles this isn't a practical way. Cause you need an entire permission setup to get that role working.

   

  for example:
  
  you gave the @everyone role write permissions then your muted role wont work!
  an implemented mute that works on text and voice channels will make this a lot easier!
