Windows Tray and App Icons Badges
You can easily miss private messages due to the Windows icons not giving enough information about them if you don't open up the main window constantly. The tray icon only has a red dot, which means either someone posted a message on some server or that you were mentioned or that you have a private message. The app icon can have a large red dot or a counter. That counter is for both mentions and private messages. Since every project server I know mentions @everyone often with news or announcements, the message count is always up. Even worse, the red dot on tray icon is pretty much useless since obviously someone is chatting all the time. So my options are to either mark as read all servers or mute all servers to completely clear the red dot or suppress @everyone. The first option is a hassle, the second one won't do since I won't have any mentions at all and the third one won't work because I do want @everyone mentions.
I would prefer if private messages have a separate indicator, a blue dot instead of the red one, a second blue/green dot, whatever. I would also prefer to have "someone sent a message on server you follow" not to show the red dot, that's just useless, people chat all the time.

please let me suppress the red dot for pending friend requests without deleting said requests.
making it a separate colour would be an even better idea, but at least let us pick and chose what does and doesn't invoke The Dot

The notification in red should be shown only in private messages, mentions, friend requests and it is still adjusted to each channel of each server that the person participates.
Splitting notifications between private messages, friend requests and mentions can be a good way to make identification easier, but correctly defining notifications is essential.
But the community is requesting both as two features that I think as two as necessary and essential.
