Yep, this is most definitely FAKE!
Discord wouldn't shut down so fast and without notice, and, they would use some more secure official way than just a DM. And, Discord is very popular and useful at the moment due to Covid-19 shutting down schools, locking most everything down, etc. Discord's being used to communicate with friends, classes, and other educational and communicational purposes/ways. Many of the servers I'm In have received the same message and posted it in their announcement channels, some understand that this is fake,
while others think it's actually real and they're freaking out...
Whoever is doing this or however it's happening, it's not funny. Not funny one bit, many servers are ACTUALLY freaking out like this really good big one that's been going on for a while is really upset because they have something like 3,000+ active members. :<0 -

Yeah, if this was real, I'm sure discord itself would have sent out a message to everyone, in all servers and dms about it being deleted. If not that, I'm sure they'd send out emails as well. I don't know why people fall for that stuff, to be honest lol. It's definitely fake. Sorry to burst some of you guys' bubble but it's fake and you shouldn't be falling for fake chainmail. It's dumb in my opinion.

This is totally FAKE! It seems like this trend has popped up simply to prank your friends or rickroll them. So, if you see any messages or forwards which say that Discord is supposed to shut down at a particular date or year, it's most definitely fake. ... This means Discord is not shutting down in 2022 or actually, any time soon.
So you all just got rickrolled.

A few days ago they just launched the Discord Nitro Boost thingy to encourage what? More Discord Nitro users. And when more Discord Nitro users they get more money. This shows their aim is on earning money, so obviously they would not kick out users.
Secondly, this is a social media thing, and it would not have something like OVERCROWDED. There is something called data update, where they update so they space becomes bigger. And also dear, Discord has in total, 300 million REGISTERED USERS, not just active users. And Instagram? Only the ACTIVE USERS can be counted up to 1000 million.
Thirdly, this is clearly not an official message. If Discord wants to inform, it wouldn't inform on text message, they would usually have embed message. They would send to every server. Every public server has an announcement from discord channel. That is where Discord would send the message.

Fourthly, if Discord is overcrowded, they would lock the app and stop people from downloading it, is that right? Yea. But they did not. The Discord download page is still running perfectly well, and nothing is wrong. If they have this kind of problem, they would shut down the whole app.
