[Feature Request] Threads in discord chat

I would like if discord added a thread feature to help keep congested servers a bit more readable(when someone starts a topic, people can reply in a thread that would open up on the side and would help clear up chat when there’s 4-5 convos going at once.

    is there any update? we think about switching to discord from Slack but this could become a blocker

    So Discord has released replies but they do not let you thread like in Slack. 

    I would say the features are not interchangeable, since even if people use 'reply' in a threaded way, you can't view the thread by itself. Posting the reply to the main channel thread should be optional so as not to pollute the main thread, and the threads should be viewable in a pane (exactly like slack - it is a great workflow).

    Not quite there yet as a slack replacement for a busy server that needs threading.

    Agreed. The reply feature might be nice for a one time / single sentence reply, but it is no substitute for actual sub-threads that can act similar to channels.

    More communication about the status of this feature, please. Is the reason this feature is taking so long because collaboration is happening in a noisy Discord channel with no threading?! Half the dev's days are spent scrolling upwards and trying to piece together replies to understand basic flow of conversation and ideas.

    You can't enable them to use them (since they are blocked server side by Discord until at least June 28th), you can only see how they look using experiments.
