Ability to set a public and private profile picture
While Discord is predominantly an app for gaming, some people do use it professionally, in place of Skype and the like. People who use Discord alongside their job would need a more professional profile picture even while playing and chatting with friends, as having a profile picture of Spiderman dabbing wouldn't be good while discussing a company's finances, or something along those lines. Having a private and public profile picture would allow those people to keep a professional-looking picture while talking about work, and have something more relaxed or an inside joke when with friends. If this feature is added, it would make sense to decide if only specific people get to see your private profile picture or if it's open to all friends, so if someone's boss decides to be weird and send a friend request they won't have access to the private picture. Maybe it could be added as a feature in a future update, or as a new Nitro perk?

I'd be into a close friends photo functionality

Or just create a separate account for your professional use. It's always good to keep your personal and professional life separate.
Discord's target market is not to be a communication platform for businesses, Slack is more targeted towards that. I also wouldn't recommend people using Discord as a platform for business communications are it isn't exactly reliable, with common API outages and high latency if you needed to get a critical message out you may find it difficult during a time of elevated API latency.
tl;dr - Don't use discord for business purposes, it's not a good idea.
