The new UI is a bad April Fools prank that is two months too early.

The new UI is too frenetic. The imposed highlight on hovering reminds me of Netflix's big misstep where letting the mouse rest for even a second on an image of a show started an obnoxious trailer for that show. You should really have a listen to your user base on this one and either rollback this ill executed attempt at "improvement" or at the very least provide an option for users to revert to the last iteration of the UI.
