New UI Spacing Between Message Bar and Latest Message Sent Too Small

Aside from the new UI having obnoxious highlighting and a reaction bar when you hover over a message, I feel that the space between the message bar and the last message sent is too short now. Having that extra space between the two was way easier on the eyes. It makes it feel like I haven't scrolled down all the way and flares up my claustrophobia with how cluttered it looks.
