Please allow users to toggle the latest style changes
The latest chages to the chat, and especially with the chat message pop-up is incredibly disrupting. However, I admit that for some people it might be a thing they need. So while I think that for now reverting the newest stylistic changes would be best, might I suggest that in the future, you could look into making this sort of style changes something that the user can toggle on or off in their personal settings? That way, those who do find this new style better and more accessible could have it, and people who find it disruptive could toggle it on.
And you didn't hear this last bit from me, mostly because I use Discord specifically because it's free, but you could develop multiple, flashier and/or "cooler" style choices for those who live on edge, and maybe make some of them Nitro only feature? I don't know, just a thought I had.
At either way, sorry for bothering, but please, for now, could you undo your latest changes?

I agree with your suggestions about the latest features: rolling them back for now and making them optional later. But I had to snicker a bit at the "you didn't hear this last bit from me". XD

Adding up to the topic:
- Lack of separator line makes it harder to discern when next message block starts. While it does make chat more compact vertically, it's exactly the thing that people didn't mind in cozy chat mode (especially given how there is a setting that allows to control said spacing, now even maxed out spacing doesn't cover the default spacing with a separator). At least this line absolutely have to be toggleable.
- Message highlight is pretty intrusive, especially on large messages (for example ones that contain links). This can be mitigated rather easily - by using less apparent highlight color, or by adding CSS transitions to highlights that would make them less apparent. Some experiments show far more comfortable results for me: an `transition: background-color 0.2s ease` on message itself, `transition: opacity 0.3s ease` on buttons, as well as default `opacity` of 0.5 unless hovered directly. And again - having ability to toggle visual color change on highlight makes it far better for everyone.
- The new image hover toolbar on the top-left is intrusive as well, especially comparing to old one. Having it less visible unless hovered partially solves the issue, but being able to turn off frequent emote display would help a lot.
- Having Nitro tab in DMs is annoying, especially when you already have the nitro subscription. Yeah, we get it, you want us to give you money to continue operation, but for the love of god - don't make it so in-your face and annoying, especially when user already did that.
In short, when introducing such changes - give users a choice. In general, people are conservative when using things they use for a long time and not taking drastic changes easily. Don't antagonize those people - if you make the change, at least let them tune it down somewhat, and acclimate to new changes gradually.
