I don't like this update.
Hello to everyone working at Discord, and especially to whichever employee reads this.
From what I've heard, you guys don't tend to read the feedback pages, and I sincerely hope that's not true, because I have a few things to say about the update to the UI.
First, why did you guys think it was a good idea to roll out a huge change to everything without so much as a slight warning that it could not be turned off? I genuinely want to know.
Secondly, I actually, honest to goodness feel mildly nauseous when I look at the new UI, and that isn't an exaggeration in the slightest. (though, it's not as bad as some people say they have it, so I'm definitely not speaking for everyone in the community here)
Third, and this is going to be a bit of a wall of text, so bear with me here...
Why does every company feel the need to make the computer versions of their applications look more like they belong on some cheap Android phone? It just makes me feel like everyone's trying to push to being on mobile, and with the fact that things like the Apple Pen exist, most people see it and I think they might say "why would there still be a need for computers? we have everything on phones!" Besides, phones are totally locked down, so from the perspective of big companies, that's perfect for preventing people from doing things you don't want them to, like putting an ad-blocker on your browser. But back to my point, I actually don't think I can use the new UI, seeing as it makes me feel too much like I should be scrolling through it with a touch screen, and I don't like that, as I am rather against smartphones due to how, well... simple they think the user is. Now, I'm not a "power user" by any means, but I am advanced enough to know my way around a computer, so this update looking like a mobile app is honestly really awkward, and I just do not like it at all. It really, really, really makes me wonder things like this. Also, this update genuinely kind of feels like it was an unfinished concept for a design that somehow got slipped to whichever team handles the UI and such, and I think that might be a bit of a problem.
TL;DR for that section up there: It feels like it'd be more at-home in a mobile app, looks like an unfinished concept, and I don't like it.
I really hope you guys take the feedback into account and at the very least add some option, doesn't matter how obscured by the other settings it is, where people can change back to the old UI, or at least something with the features of the old one.
Sincerely, Lance/starCandy99.
P.S the "Wumpus" mascot is pretty cool, but a bit obnoxious to look at when, say, I'm looking at the "online" tab after just starting up Discord and everyone's offline (usually because they are sleeping or busy), and I'd kind of like to see an option to disable it, but that's just a minor thing.
