Blocked messages not actually blocked
BTW I only use the web/browser Discord, so I don't know how this works in the Desktop one.
I've blocked users but I can still see their messages under a Blocked Messages block. Is there a way to get blocking functionality in Discord to actually not display blocked messages without using custom browser extensions?
I've seen posts detailing that this cannot be done, but if I can remove these messages from the screen on my end with a custom CSS and/or Javascript, so can you. I don't understand the rationale behind not enabling users to effectively block people.

oh, this is something i always hated about discord.
you block someone but there's a "show" toggle that let's you see messages from someone you blocked thus defeating the purpose of having such a function in the first place. thus...you block someone but discord doesn't actually block them for real.
i got into a big argument with people on steam about this a while back since they use this exact same block system that doesn't actually block anything.
a good comparison of how this works is comparing 2 websites (nsfw but just using them and their names as examples is all).
when you blacklist tags on e621, the site actually filters content with your blacklisted tags out of your search results unless you manually toggle the blacklisted tags thus blocking them from view entirely.
when you blacklist tags on sankaku complex, the site blurs but otherwise leaves all content with tags you've blacklisted visible and mixed in with the rest of your search results thus not actually serving its intended purpose as a blacklist/block function.
the latter is how steam and discord's block system works. it obscures but doesn't actually block content from the people on your block list as per the functions intended purpose.

Yes, this is honestly so annoying. I block only when someone is being extraordinarily intolerable. I can't help but click to see what stupid stuff they are saying, because I have a need to know everything in my visible environment, and it always pisses me right off. When I block, I DON'T WANT TO SEE THEM!
This is Discord though so I know they aren't gonna do anything about it. They are just gonna focus on making more idiotic UI changes that no one asked for and ignore any real suggestions that may actually make it better.

Give us this feature NOW. Can't be that hard to actually implement an actual blocking of the message. Just make it hidden in CSS if you can't handle the asynchronous chat.

Seriously. It wouldn't be difficult. it is a simple QoL improvement that is far overdue

And let us block friends. Currently blocking someone will force remove your friend status with them, thus removing cross-server DM possibility.

FWIW people who commented / voted here may want to also do so on https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360056292632-Blocked-Messages-Be-Actually-Blocked- which has more traffic / popularity if you've not already done so.
Not that it's likely discord cares as both have been open for more than a year and blocking is as dismal as ever, but...

Did they actually make this change official? Because i cant view blocked messages on ios anymore, however I cant find anything in their update history that says that this change was made.
