The new UI is awful, with details
Yeah, another one. The new UI is unpleasant to use and to look at.
The spacing is the worst, so I'll start there and work my way down to the lesser problems. The spacing between my name when I post and the first message is like half the space between each subsequent message I post back-to-back. It makes the whole block look unbalanced. It worked better when the spacing between messages by the same person were put closer together. Usually multiple messages back to back will be following the same subject, so separating them out makes no sense.
The name of the person who posted the message is the same font size as the message, just bold. Before, it was a point or two bigger, as it should be. It's like a header for the message, and it should be visually distinct, even if I use text formatting.
Why is each message its own "block" or "object?" When I'm scrolling through, it highlights each individual message. I wouldn't be surprised if the awkward spacing was to facilitate this change, and if so it was very much the wrong decision. It gives me a headache to look through the messages. I shudder to think how it might affect people with epilepsy.
The "new" line is actually fine. I did prefer the old way, but honestly this isn't that big a deal. A bit more space between the messages above and below the "new" line would be good, to make it a clearer "break" in the flow when scanning through messages. The only problem is that it no longer disappears when I click into the window. It just... stays there. Breaking up the messages in an obnoxious way until I switch to a different channel then back.
The timestamp on each message is fine imo. Not really necessary, but there have been times I've used my own posts to time things like when I went on break at work so having more precise info there is nice.

Holy crap I just found something else that I actually haven't seen anyone else mention, and I can't be near as civil about.
Who thought it was a good idea to automatically activate the text entry field whenever I press a key that would create a character in that field? Discord devs, I use numpad keys for a lot of different hotkeys. For example, the period on the numpad is my hotkey to mute my mic in Discord. And now when I press that button, if Discord is the active window, it will automatically activate the text entry field and type a period. This is not a feature I want. I will click the text box when I want to type. Please do not just activate the text box for me. That's just asking for people to accidentally put their password into chat because they didn't realize Discord was the active window.7 -
(About TheEzzran's comment) I kept noticing having the chat entry field thing activated more than usual, I thought it was just that I never noticed it, but it's annoying me very much. I don't get why this update even happen honestly, who asked for all these useless things? (I get some people like this new stuff, but come on?)

If devs read this, please do something about the X symbol on the left of a blocked message. It's actually more annoying than how it was before.

I would add the frequently used emotes small menu as being an issue as well, if you click on the reaction button you already have your frequently used emotes, it's a duplicate, and gets in the way. When I scroll in a channel my eyes get caught on it and I don't read the messages, it defeats the purpose of a chat.
