Turn off all sounds
For the love of god, either stop notifications from turning themselves on, or make an easy way to disable all sounds.
I have turned them off so many times one by one, and as you probably know, turning one off triggers the sound. It's really annoying
-
You can do this in the user settings just go to User settings Notifications and scroll down and disable the ones you dont want

I'm still looking for a way to leave visual notifications but turn off all sound notifications.

@nice: logoff, log in back and tell us that notifications stayed disabled, following your advice.

I very strongly agree with the OP. There should really be a single button at the top to disable ALL sound notifications - users shouldn't have to click through all of these individually, one by one, on every device and every browser, repeating again if browser cache is cleared, etc...

Strongly agree. It boggles my mind that this hasn't been addressed yet.

I just got discord and I already HATE it. I have turned every possible sound setting off and I still hear that bloody annoying beep every single time I get a message. I have re-logged, restarted my computer and reinstalled the program with zero changes. This truly is a terrible experience. Not recommending this to anyone.

Better late than never: Voice & Video-->Output Volume worked on my desktop. Despite the name of the tab it seems to apply to everything on Discord, including the pings. It's a bit of a work around so you obviously need to turn it back up if you want to hear anything at all on the app.

It's a ridiculous issue. Discord must fix it and should have fixed it years ago.
@Nice - you're just wrong
@infuser - nice idea but turning down the volume is too broad. Need to use voice chat and have notification sounds off especially for voice chats.

Lovely., Jan 2021,, still a issue..
All sounds turned off, "notifications turned off"
Constantly getting the ANNOYING beeb sound when someone writes in a channel..
Turning the output volume to 0 is the only option.,, UNTIL you need to VOIP..
JFC, how the f. is this even a issue..7 -
markvather , the problem is that there are 17+ different alert types in that menu that users have to manually unselect, for every single browser, on every single device, reset every time caches are cleared, etc.
>>>There should be *ONE* button to simply MUTE ALL alert sounds.<<<

It's completely ridiculous that I have SEVENTEEN different buttons I have to individually click (each one of them making the same annoying sound) instead of one easy way to tell Discord I don't want any of the notification sounds.
At the very least, make the setting tied to my account instead of resetting every time I clear my cache (or sometimes randomly for no reason at all).

Super annoying and I had the same issue until i saw yetimountainbutter comment with a picture to turn off notifications and set to never. You'll notice he'll also have messages disabled. THAT'S that main culprit. Turn that off and you still get flash notifications and everything except for the annoying message sound. Hope that helps!

That solved the problem. Thanks.

I don't think you guys understand the problem.
I'll add that the problem happened a lot for a long time....where we had to turn off the sounds for each type of notification one by one (after cookies got lost or had to re-login to discord or some other disturbance)....BUT it hasn't happened to me now for several weeks. So something may have changed. Not sure I want to log out or wipe cookies to find out though.

Tony J wiith the save. thanks man. this is the real LPT !!! everyone read this man's comment for the solution

sanuoops.. clueless. not relevant to the stated problem
However the problem doesn't happen anymore. It seems Discord fixed it.

No, they didn't. I'm still annoyed by the unwanted and jarring bee-boops. It makes me not want to use Discord.

@franku Yep. Plenty of times I've just turned it off until I specifically have something going on to log into Discord for.
It makes Discord unviable as an on all the time chat client.

The worst thing about discord by far, I have NO idea where the notification noise is coming from I have disabled message notifications but still hear the sounds. I mute the server, and still hear sounds. It's so incredibly annoying.
I want to know which servers have sound enabled, and DISABLE especially on servers with busy messages, I only want specific servers to notify me potentially, but even then when I mute server until i turn it back on I'm still getting sounds. The system sucks balls, and needs a full overhaul.

I never understood why they made Discord so annoying in terms of noise. Who on their right mind would want a sound EVERYTIME someone does something in COUNTLESS chatrooms. They learnt that back then in mIRC and ICQ dude, it's 25 years old knowledge ¿ And Discord can't figure it out ? The should make it silent by default like every good chat app ever used by humans. But not even that, the settings are ass-backwards, it takes like more than 50 clicks to silence every single channel and thing, it's ridiculous.
I have 2 solutions:
In browser based Discord -> MUTE THE TAB IN YOUR BROWSER (right click).
In desktop Discord -> Go to the sound mixer in windows and mute the entire application in the system.1 -
While those two solutions are great, I like being able to HEAR people on call. Discord, please add a "disable all sounds" button at the top. so I don't have to disable them every single time I restart/relogin.

@Tony J how does one get to that page your screenshotted? Can't seem to find it

Better late than never again - just fixed it for my Discord client. Settings->Notifications->Sounds->Message. Turn that off and blissful silence ensues.

that must be THE MOST ANNOYING sound ever! not user friendly at all... only get notified when someone tags you, and be able to switch off easily.

THIS WORKED!! I have read all the instructions here but none worked so it appears you have to go to each server (go to the top left of screen where the name of the server your on is displayed - use the arrow beside it for menu - choose notification setting for that server and choose nothing) - dumb but it at least stops the irritating noises,

The issue was fixed a year ago? You cannot know what the issue was if you didn't experience it.
Turning off a Server's Notifications means that you won't get notified of posts to the server when you aren't using the server and has nothing to do with the sounds within the server, to my knowledge.
Sounds are handled within User Settings, the gear at lower left, and are site-wide.
The OP issue was that you would turn off each of the 15 or so SOUND notifications under Sounds in the User Settings and then the next time you were logged out or cleared cookies or had a hiccup, Discord would turn each of the 15 all back on. So you'd have to turn off all 15 again. It was fixed a year? ago. This thread is stale. It's no longer an issue.

still same broblem i get ride of that noise, program uninstall Discord.
