By now, so many people have spoken up about their dislike of the new UI. This post is no different. But my distress is great enough that I had to speak up too.
Discord is my primary form of online socialization. It's the only social media I use. To have it feel unusable to me has been a source of daily upset since I downloaded the update. I actively loathe using it now, which is terribly inconvenient given the aforementioned reasons. I didn't know this would be an issue for me until it was.
The reason it feels unusable is because of the changes to the chat window itself. Posts highlighting on mouse hover and the new emoji bar add so much chaos to what used to be a clean, simple space. To me, highlight-on-mouse-hover implies this is a link that should be clicked. The constant flicker of post backgrounds is distracting at best and disorienting at worst. The emoji bar is an intrusive, unnecessary feature, and has done nothing but make it slightly more challenging for me to pin and edit posts.
All I'm asking for is an option to toggle these features off. I don't care what new features you develop as long as you give us the choice not to use them--especially ones that affect Discord core functionality.
Discord is an amazing app, and I'm so grateful for the way it's helped me connect with people. I have always loved using Discord, and have always been a staunch proponent. But ever since this update, I don't even want to look at it.
Please give us the option to turn off these new features. Please.
