Feburary 2020 UI changes-Thoughts and Criticisms
Admittedly, this change is not my cup of tea for a couple of main reasons:
-The spacing between messages had been removed quite a bit, and i've attempted to adjust this in settings but its not quite the same level of spacing as before. It feels claustrophobic and unnecessary as spacing between messages was already adjustable, so if anyone wanted smaller spacing they could have had it without the update.
-The newly introduced emote button would work better as an optional addition, as i know people who like that feature. However personally, i don't like how it blocks parts of the messages in discord. Knowing both opinions on the matter exist, a part in appearance settings may be more beneficial for user division.
-I could be wrong, but it appears there's less separation in messages when it comes to time stamps. I can see this being optional as well in the form of adjustable separation settings by minutes, hours, days, etc.
In conclusion: this update doesn't seem to be sitting well with many other of my peers on discord as a whole, perhaps it would be best to reconsider this decision for now and take the most prevalent criticisms into consideration.
