More Accurate Online Member Count
Recently, Discord has changed the way it counts online members and displays them. My server has on average over 8k members online at any time. However, it now displays 200. I thought this was a mistake but Discord staff told me that it is counting the number of players online that have interacted on that server in the last hour! One hour is too small an interval to accurately estimate activity. Even if we prune, the smallest interval is more than 1 day which is at least 24 hours.
Users will not be interacting with the server daily. I think that 1 week or even a month would be a more accurate estimate of users that have interacted with the server. There are already other measures in place now like "Discovery" which also take into account activity of members. Even the Discovery requirements for activity does not match the current online member count. Discovery shows more active members. Hence, I hope that Discord staff will reconsider how they display online member count for a server.
